1. The Hipforums announces it first ever fundraiser. After nearly 30 years online, we must ask our members and guests to help support the website. Thanks to years of ongoing financial support of our members, advertisers and volunteer admin staff, we have been able to keep the forums alive.

Now we must ask for help as available funds have all been used for our Internet server and other fees.

Artemis Fowl? Irish countryside an mythical beasts
The Philospohers Stone, not as in Harry Potter but a weird fantasy thing, though i cant remember the author (Very helpful i know!)
Also there is That Hideous Strength by C.S.Lewis, not many beasts but it has Merlin returning to aid his kingdom.

all i can think of offhand, sorry if its not what your after

Well gee, The Once and Future King, 1939, by T. H. White

King Arthur, how's that for English myth. A really good read I think.

    Lab,

Lord of the Rings? Yes very good also by Tolkein The Simerillian, much harder to read but worth it if you can handle about a jillion pages, people and stories. It's the entire history of Middle earth before the Rings.

    Wiccy,
Yes I was thinking of that one also.
