Hi everyone, I'm young and in my first semi-management role at my current job. My boss will be temporarily leaving soon putting me in the boss’s role for a little while (not permanently - haha). Since I'm still learning how to be a manager, I was wondering if there were any really great "how to be a good manager" books out there. There are so many on Amazon.com that I don't even know where to start! Thanks for your help!
I would say that "The One Thing You Need to Know" by Marcus Buckingham is probably a good place to start. There is a difference between management and leadership, and this book does a good job talking about effectiveness at both. I'd also highly recommend his books "First, Break All the Rules" and "Now, Discover Your Strengths" - very insightful leadership books. I also like all of the books written by John Maxwell. Hope this helps! Good luck!
i've read this book and listened to the author speak (Peter Sims): True North: Discover your Authentic Leadership How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie is also a classic
