This thread is for all the people going to bonnaroo.

Would you like to all get together and share some good times?

we should see who all posts in this thread, and then maybe we can all exchange phone numbers and call each other up when we're there!

you didnt explain it in full... its a overpriced.. overpopulated festival that has a bunch of crappy mainstream artists... dont get me wrong... there are some choice artists in there... but theres alot of mainstream crap in the mix as well... you could see half of these artists at other fests at almost half the price... and half the crowd.. 100,000+ people is just waaaaaaaaay too many people in one spot

JokerMan does raise a good point with this post. There are a lot of mainstream artists that are playing at 'Roo this year and they all tour rather frequently at less-populated, lower-priced venues. However, I do like such acts as Phil Lesh & Friends, moe., Oysterhead, etc. I'm your typical hippie;) . I do, however, have to disagree about the statement regarding the crowd size. I enjoy huge crowds of people at concerts, especially when we're all stoned/tripping/etc., because it generates this magical aura, if you'd like to call it that. In particular, I believe we all feel the same way during the performances-very connected, happy, and in tune with eachother and our immediate surroundings. Woodstock '69, for example, attracted 400,000+ people in one location...that's A LOT of fuckin' people, haha! Anyway, just my two cents. I'm tired, and wanna give the girlfriend a call before bed. G'night all.

    exactly

bonnaroo is the closest thing we have to woodstock i believe.

also, i'm looking forward to seeing such artists as damian marley(i LOVE this shit), radiohead(Again, huge fan), bright eyes, death cab for cutie(love this shit), burning spear, cypress hill

theres a bunch of bands that are also good that im looking forward to seeing

although a lot of the bands i've never even heard of it.

original woodstock was a one time thing which made it so special. It also had some meaning to it. Then woodstock in the 90's imo was a disaster. Bonnaroo was cool for the first year, then it turned into a annaul thing & it's getting worse everyyear. Isn't MTV involved this year??? Smaller festies for me. Alot more chill.

I don't think Bonnaroo is anything like Woodstock. Woodstock wasn't commercial and after a while, they just let everyone in for free. Woodstock seems like it would just be about 100x cooler.

People broke down part of the fence...and they then announced over the sound system that it would be a free show for anyone else who wanted in.

the rumors about mtv taking over bonnaroo are ONLY rumors.sure its commercialized but what do you expect in the year 2006. sure its not exactly like woodstock but there were so many other factors going into woodstock that made it so special and it will never happen again. bonnaroo is pretty damn close to it though and there are too many amazing artists playing there to complain about the "commercialized and mainstream" few. i can guarantee it'll be worth your $200

i was going but my dad busted me about a week ago with pot..so thats out.
he said i could go next year though so ill see yall there!

bonnaroo is overrated...you should just go to smaller festivals and see who you wanna see without all of the shitty music mixed in.

exactly... you could see two huge festivals for the price of one roo ticket... pick your two... Wakarusa, Summercamp, 10k.... just combining two of those fests you could see over a 100 bands... with all of them being amazing shows... no crappy mainsteam.... but then again im in the midwest and we get spoiled come festival season since theres just TONS of festivals 'round here all summer long
