I have always heard the moans coming from fans concerning Bonnaroo's annual change away from their rootsy beginnings, and this year seems to be the most extreme as of yet. Metallica is headlining for christ sake! Not that I think that's a bad thing. It will be funny to see metalheads at roo, mingling with the hippies in a big hot melting pot.

I'm looking forward to seeing Against Me more than anything else. Also Allman Bros, DSO, and YMSB. A lot of the others I'm not even familiar with.

What does everyone think of the bands? And what do you think of Bonnaroo in general?

What I've heard of Bonnaroo always sounded so good I wanted to visit it if I ever would be in the states around that time. What I've seen of this years line up is rather mediocre. Lots of big and popular names that have nothing to do with jam bands and the atmosphere I associate with this festival. Looks like just a popular festival with popular music for mainstream people now.

This year is going to be awful. I have a feeling this will be it's last year. Shit is getting bad there. The atmosphere feels malevolent.

My friends and I weren't satisfied with the line up so we're not going. We're either going to go to All Good or Gathering Of The Vibes. I just hope Battles plays one of them as they're the only band at Bonnaroo I really care about seeing. Plus, I'd like to avoid Metalleca fans if possible.

I think it's appalling to be quite honest. I attended Bonnaroo for the first time last year. Actually I worked for Clean Vibes. It was an absolutely amazing experience, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the lineup. When I saw that Metallica and Pearl Jam were headlining over B.B. King and Robert Plant I was astonished to say the least. I understand that perhaps they could bring a higher level of energy than King and Plant as far as headliners are concerned, but I just hate to see Metallica in big bold letters over such legends. There are countless bands out there that would have made better headliners for Bonnaroo. Apparently the festival organizers are completely out of touch with what the festival attendees expect from Roo. Needless to say, I won't be attending this year. Here's hoping for next year.

while im not disagreeing with what your aying about the whole thing... i dont know why people wouldnt even care to see robert plant he realy isnt talented doesnt play any intsruments and i really think his voice isnt really that good. i think hes extremely overrated as well as Zeppelin but alteast zep had some talent even tho i hated the band i kno they could play a thing or too but i really dont see robert plant as an amazing artist like the way others do i mean he really didnt do anything that groundbreaking

thats the stupidest fucking thing i have heard all day. bonnaroo is not getting malevolent, its getting mainstream. thats what happens when MTV buys 30% of a festival.
there is no way in Hell this is the last year for the 'roo. they started buying the farm last year, and plan on doing more festivals throughout the year on the site. while the hippy friendly 'roo we know and love is DEFINITELY a thing of the past, it is not the end of this festival. look at the popularity of coachella--thats what the 'roo folks are after. a mainstream festy.
i work festivals all summer, and bonnaroo has become my least favorite. its too big, too messy, and too mainstream for my tastes. i think this years line up is lame as shit. so hopefully i can get out of working.
you can bet your sweet little asses i wil lbe at langerado and all good, though!
