I couldent find my answer in the other forums so I figured I would make a new thread... ...and I am stoned so bare with me... I have a great drinking bottle that I want to make into a bong. I have a metal bowl that I bought at a head shop near my house. So I need a stem to connect to that and go down into the drinking bottle. My problem is I dont know what that stem should be made out of. I was thinking of some kind of a metal tube that can screw onto the threads that are on the bowl part I already bought. Does anyone know about how to get these parts or have any previous experience with finding parts like this? Anyway then that stem will go down below the water level... and I will punch a little hole for a carb in the side. Then there is a second hole in the lid for a straw to suck the smoke into your happy mouth!! Success!!! Sorry this post is so lengthy i just felt I needed lots of room to describe my self... So my way of thanking you all is to post this totally random picture I found on google.com... treasure it always...
you can attatch it to a pen with the insides took out, or just find a nice metal or plastic tube in the garage, can find alot of handy things in there, a nice glass tube would be perfect though, and that straw thing, i dont think that would work, you should use a rubber tube if you want somthing like that. hahaha nice picture too
If you ever took a shop class in high school, it might come in handy here. Just walk in (like everyone in my school does) and just talk to the teacher and tell him some bullshit story of how you broke something in your garage and you need to make a part to replace it. Just find out how thick you want your stem to be, grab a piece of aluminum, and start drilling. Put the aluminum bar in the lathe, and bore it out to whatever width the bottom of your bowl is (if you don't know, then the teacher can help you) and then thread it (the teacher will help you with this too!). And there ya go. FREE!
I'm making one, and I took some surgical tubing for the stem. The surgical tubing was too small to go over the threads, so i just took a pair of scissors cut 2 small slits, and pushed a fat pen in there to widen it, then I melted it a bit with a lighter, after that I put it over the threads and just melted it to the threads, bowl won't come off too easy after that.
if you were going to put a hole in the bottle anyway why dont you just put the stem in that way instead of down the neck then use silicone to seal it. then you could hit straight from the bottle and not another tube. also i wouldnt use a hole in the glass for a carb
