Blue Skies

Another one of my poems

Blue Skies​

Lost in a city of broken dreams​

Darkness falls, along come my fears​

Nothing is ever what it seems​

My pain is swept away in a sea of endless tears​

​

The streets are lit up like heaven above​

This city isn't heaven, it feels too much like hell​

My world was once filled with happiness and love​

There were never dark secrets you had to tell​

​

Remember our first kiss, how it made you feel?​

The sun was going down, you held onto me tight​

Your lips touched mine, my heart you would steal​

Was it love? Were my feelings right?​

We watched the sunset as we lay in the sand​

The moment was beautiful, like a painting of some kind​

I put my head on your shoulder, you took my hand​

But now you left me full of memories and answers I'll never find​

​

My heart shattered when you and I came to an end​

I was torn apart inside, but soon my fears would all disappear​

Given time to heal, my heart would mend​

No longer would I shed another tear​

I gaze along the open roads, my mind is clear​

If I choose the right road, it will lead me away​

To a world without darkness, where I'll have nothing to fear​

No longer will I see black clouds, only blue skies each and every day​
