http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8OHQA5O0&show_article=1 Gunman Kills 21 at Virginia Tech Apr 16 12:31 PM US/Eastern By SUE LINDSEY Associated Press Writer BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) - A gunman opened fire in a dorm and classroom at Virginia Tech on Monday, killing 21 people and wounding another 21 before he was killed, police said. On the Web site, Tech reported the shootings at opposite sides of the 2,600-acre campus at West Ambler Johnston, a co-ed residence hall that houses 895 people, and said there were "multiple victims" at Norris Hall, an engineering building. All entrances to the campus were closed and classes canceled through Tuesday. "There's just a lot of commotion. It's hard to tell exactly what's going on," said student Jason Anthony Smith, 19, who lives in the dorm where shooting took place. Aimee Kanode, a freshman from Martinsville, said the shooting happened on the 4th floor of West Ambler Johnston dormitory, one floor above her room. Kanode's resident assistant knocked on her door about 8 a.m. to notify students to stay put. "They had us under lockdown," Kanode said. "They temporarily lifted the lockdown, the gunman shot again." "We're all locked in our dorms surfing the Internet trying to figure out what's going on," Kanode said. Madison Van Duyne, a student who was interviewed by telephone on CNN, said, "We are all in lockdown. Most of the students are sitting on the floors away from the windows just trying to be as safe as possible." It was second time in less than a year that the campus was closed because of a shooting. In August 2006, the opening day of classes was canceled and the campus closed when an escaped jail inmate allegedly killed a hospital guard off campus and fled to the Tech area. A sheriff's deputy involved in the manhunt was killed on a trail just off campus. The accused gunman, William Morva, faces capital murder charges
There was a bomb threat 3 days before the shooting, but nothing serious was done... One of the shooters is also apparently still alive and running around. Can't really blame anyone for this though... sometimes... people just go nuts. I hope that this doesn't lead to irrational security measures on nation-wide campuses.
It also amazes me how Americans blow this out of proportion while hundreds die in other countries from heartless murder every day. (especially Iraq, which is provoked by America in the first place). Americans need to get their heads out of their asses and realise that the world isn't perfect, and their country isn't perfect... as much as they would like it to be. Americans react to such happenings with such a fascinating degree of shock... I wouldn't be suprised if the stock market goes down tonight just because of this... Honesly... terrible that it happened... but shit, truly not the right reaction for such a thing. Like Posthumous said... the extreme coverage and panic this has caused will only provoke more people to do such things.
That's what I would like to know. And if these shootings began around 7:00, how is it that the gunman was able to make it all the way across campus and shoot up another building THREE HOURS LATER, around 10:00, without being apprehended during that time period? It wasn't until about 2-3 hours after these shootings began that the campus PA system alerted students that a shooter was on the loose. This reeks to high heaven. This is going to be exploited to no end in the coming weeks as we see more and more gun legislation put into effect. Even the media is admitting this is a very strange sequence of events.
Do....do....do you think that the elite and the neocons were behind this? It's more fear tactics! Run away!
I don't know, why don't you get the facts for yourself instead of spending every waking hour of your life in here acting like you know everything?
I just don't base my opinion on rediculous spectulation. Conspiracy theorists are the products of the system... they are the people who are most affected by the fear tactics the system produces. You people are too terrified of living because there might be a government conspiracy, chem trails, or a complete violation of your imaginable rights outside your door. Fear tactics do not work on people who ignore the bullshit... conspiracy theorists don't only completely aknowledge it, but go out of their way to make it public... only scaring themselves into paranoia in the process.
I am not speculating. I am asking myself the same questions everyone else is. Have I drawn any conclusions? No, I have not. It's YOU who is jumping to conclusions.
now our top story-- 30+ dead at virginia tech, the deadliest college shooting in history. llater in the newscast, 40 people are killed in baghdad today just like yesterday and the day before and the day before that. when my mom got home from work she said they were watching FOX NEWS all day and watching the death count rise.
I've never understood that attitude that we shouldn't care about some people dying because more people are dying elsewhere. I know other people get killed all the time in other countries... does that mean I can't be sad that people die in this country? I just don't get that. Probably because I'm just a dumb ignorant American. This whole thing is a bit weird though.
youre not a dumb ignorant american, you just have a different mindset. I think they are gonna sensationalize the whole fuckin thing though.
i can't help it if i have levels of concern. i'm more concerned with my immediate family than my neighbor's family. i'm more concerned with my neighbors than the people across town. i'm more concerned with people in my state than in other states, and so on. kiss my ass if it bothers you. because there isn't a single one of you going to lose sleep at night if one of my kids dies. but i bet you will if someone you love does.
