I can't stand them for some unknown reason. But I know a girl who has excellent musical taste, and she thinks they're da bomb. I probably have a weird inner ear deficiency or something...
i got to see them back in gosh mustve been 92 or 93, they were the first non ekoustic hookah show i went to. i still play a couple of thier songs, like 'change' and 'time' ? i think thatts what they are called. off thier first album.
That's one of the first bands I remember listening to when I was little. Listening to Blind Melon brings me back to being in kindergarten or 1st grade driving around the North Georgia mountains with my dad. Same goes for Counting Crows, Neil Young, the Cranberries, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and old No Doubt. I have an odd reverence for bands that my parents introduced to me when I was young.
I love blind melon. They are up there on my frequently played list. I've got the albums, the videos. Shannon Hoon was a genius in so many ways, and they just had a sound that appealed to me in so many ways. If I were gay, I would fuck him. Hard. Oh hell fucking yeah.
They are awesome. One of my favorite bands of all-time. I love Shannon Hoon -- one of the greatest vocalists in music history. They make Led Zeppelin and The Grateful Dead look like bumbling fools. ...
I dont think they make Led Zeppelin look like bumbling fools, because Zeppelin was far from foolish. But blind melon does blow alot of bands and so called "artists" way out of the water.
I love Blind Melon and Shannon Hoon WAS a genius. Some of my favorite songs are "Mouthful of Cavaties", "Change", and "Soup". Too bad Shannon passed away so young...I have a feeling they could have really been something. Something more than they were/are.
Heres a couple of pictures of Shannons back home we always used to get loaded and go play guitar, smoke and all that good shit at his grave.
i can't lie, "no rain" is what got me into them. but aside from that song i still think they're awesome.
"No Rain" was their only hit.. thats how I first heard them My favorite song is "St Andrew's Fall", but I seriously love everything they ever recorded. Cant say that for almost any other band...
i know this might sound stupid, i'm not a huuuuuuuuuge blind melon fan, but who's grave is that exactly? if anyone from the band died, i didn't even know it happened bc my friend always talked about going to their show. i know that doesn't mean anything bc the dead still does it without jerry but i've never heard anything about them losing a band member. i apologize for my ignorance!
Its Shannon Hoons there singer. He died in 95 i think. Some of the other members have a band thats still playing. But i cant think of there name. I dont think they do blind melon songs though.
Uhh... Blind Melon stopped working together under that name after Shannon died Ex-Melon bassist and lead songwriter Brad Smith put out a "solo" project a couple years ago, under the name Abandon Jalopy. Brad Smith, another Melon member, the drummer for Pearl Jam, and Chris Shinn were in a band together called Unified Theory, they put out a self-titled debut in 2000 (which was fucking awesome), but they broke up soon after that. I believe Brad is hiding somewhere, writing new songs or something. As far as I know, none of the old Melon members are doing anything musically.
