I'm pissed off that I'm not working this evening, I'd have had a good shot at cancelling it out completely by starting some big pumps to bring on several megawatts of power draw. (The "darken the skies" ambition is hilariously doomed to failure for lack of publicity or public interest anyway.)
Must I enclose every flippant comment between /joke tags? But come to think of it, if I did this it would make a point about how out of touch these people are with practical realities. We can't do without heating and lighting, and telling people to unplug their mobile phone chargers is equivalent of trying to use a thimble to put out a forest fire. Whilst grandstanding with this meaningless gesture, the same group opposes the real, practical solution of nuclear power. Plus, I'm pretty sure these guys are taking the piss anyway: Saving the environment with kilowatts of projection power!
We don't have to live in eternal darkness to achieve better climate. We just need to buy those special lightbulbs that save lots of energy plus use our washing machine at 30 degrees instead of 90. So all this turning off the lights is not going to be popular with people. Man needs light. Infact God said, "let there be light".
it doesnt say switch off all your lights - it says " Turn off lights in any room you are not using" which will save money on your bills as well if done regularly
I don't imagine this gesture is designed to be a full and comprehensive solution to climate change. Quite clearly it seems to be a PR stunt designed to get the issue in the papers, to give it some publicity and to spark some debate. I asked you to expound upon your joke because very often flippant remarks such as these convey an underlying serious point or political stance - as your response showed.
Only 10 minutes to go. I just fired up a couple of fan heaters and I'm busy swapping all my low power bulbs for bigger ones.
