Tis a widespread cultural phenomen, Does'nt seem like all of the mixing is fostering any feelings of togetherness though.

Funny thing, I keep hearing how the racial divide in this country is bigger than ever. However, in my personal experiences, I'm not seeing it at all. Sometimes I think the race issues in this country is something being hyped by the media. Because I'm just not seeing it.

 

There will always be forms of discrimination and bullying, including racist ones. We can't eradicate it because discrimination and bullying boils up in the individual, also in ones who are oblivious to the concept. Human nature I guess.
Racial divides as in black vs. white in a society as the USA do not have to stay forever. An important reason its not gone in the nearby future is the conviction it will never go away Another reason is indeed that it's still a hot topic and the sensational media is abusing that. Well, a third reason is that people are stupid and not discerning enough where it comes to media.

 

It was clearly bigger in the 1950's and 60's.
