I am not a Christian and in fact disdain all organized religions, mostly for the hypocrites that follow them but also because they just don't have any more crediblility than any other mythology. However, I do like a good sci-fi movie and this religion that dominates my world would make a frightening story.

The setting is a dystopian world, where a dominant cult has taken over the minds of the populace that is convinced they must follow some sky wizard that is all controlling. They not only regularly meet in mass gatherings to satisfy the demands of this sky wizard's ego and give him money and praise but there is a special annual gathering where the object is to impress everyone else with gifts that somehow honor a demigod of this sky wizard.

Of course the sinister plot of this movie is the cabal that watches over the flock and records the fervor of the faithful by how brutally they compete to gain favor of the sky wizard. No one suspects that the cabal priests are gaining fortunes in this annual ritual and that it is the mainstay of the entire economy to keep the red ink off the ledgers. So, immediately after giving thanks to the sky wizard for all he has given them, they go out to battle one another in the annual melee called BLACK FRIDAY, where some may die or be maimed but the economy must go on. And, since this dystopian world is now, we get to keep tabs on the sport by paid "news" media.

"NEW YORK (AP) — Black Friday was already well underway before many awoke this morning.

The traditional kickoff to the holiday shopping season has become a two-day affair, with more stores opening before people put down their turkey legs on Thanksgiving. There's good reason for the creep; businesses know shoppers will only spend so much, and they want the first crack at those holiday budgets.

Still, millions of Americans are expected to head out in search of steep discounts today. The National Retail Federation forecasts holiday sales will grow 4.1 percent to $616.9 billion — the biggest jump since 2011.

It's a make-or-break time for many retailers, which can get as much as 20 percent of their annual sales during the holiday shopping season. Already, retailers have resorted to steep discounting to lure shoppers."

BTW, after this sci-fi movie makes a killing at the box office with the dissenter crowd, I'm working on the sequel, BLACK FRIDAY II.

Within the cabal will be an enlightened one who secretly works his way to the top and once there starts to dismantle the corruption. This movie will be darker than the first, with intrigues and assassination plots within the cabal.

I seriously doubt Christ would care for the way he is "honored" these days. Greed wasn't his thing.

What I wonder is how much religious holidays lead to economic instability. Some holidays halt productivity entirely, others cause a buying frenzy and temporarily boost the economy. But it swings back down to hell just as quickly. The buildup for what we call "Christmas" has enveloped whole nations and industries. If it was gone, would we simply have a steady, predictable economy?

    I'm watching it.

The worker drone zombies need their holidays to break up the monotony so they don't realize that they are slaves to the toxic material garbage that their whole parasitic race is hooked on like sick little junkies.

Brilliant! I mean that. Much better than Sharknato or whatever that movie was called.

I think the major premise has already been done, but integrating Black Friday into the plot is really good. I also think that placing it in the realm of Sci-fi may allow you to avoid being burned at the stake.
