I wasn't a fan of brussel sprouts when i was younger. Don't mind them now but geez i'm always worried about the aftermath. Especially when it's on a day that i have to umpire. Nobody likes smelly rooms when they have to umpire.
I spent 24 years as a qualified chef. Meatloaf was in my repertoire. It was never as popular in Australia like it was in the USA.
Shepherd's pie: I add some Port to the Gravy to enrich it !!! - An old favourite that is good as a 'rib sticker' !!!
I do love a good Shepherd's Pie. My Gran would make that, she was from Glasgow, by way of Canada to the USA where she was a mail-order bride. She had 13 daughters.
They told us that story all the time when I was a kid. My grandfather Farquharson ordered a bride from a catalog, he had already emigrated to Canada, after she arrived they moved down to Vermont. She was an amazing cook.I remember her bone soup. It was really quite good! She also served us things like tripe and liver with onions, but it was all good food fresh from the farm to the table. However, I've never had hashed goose. You got me there!
Ah, what I call "50s food"... meat loaf, those jello things. I saw this cool documentary on retro foods one time and this was the kinda stuff associated with the 1950s which wasn't at all what Donna Reed was making for her family on her show
Well I am amazed. I actually have that old Mrs Beeton, worth a lot of money these days. It has been passed on through the generations to me. I am glad I have surprised you. I will post some puddings next.
