I've had a number of bittorrent applicatioons, but in every one, i get the same problem. I start it up, and after a couple of minutes, it goes non-responsive, and i often need to re-start the computer after this happens before anything else will work. I'm running windows XP. Any suggestions as to how to stop this?
its not the applications... its your computer.. i would either try and fix it or just format the fucker
Seriously though, I dunno why they'd do that.. IS it just the bittorrent things doing it? Maybe you have some kinda firewall/spyware locker/virus program thing that's messing with it? Hell, I dunno..
i have norton and zone alarm, and yes, its only the bittorrent doing it, although other things go if i run them at the same time at the torrent (which i generally avoid doing)
My only guess is maybe one of those two is interfering with it. Maybe try turning them off and running bittorrent?
tried it before... ill give it another shot soon though. im interested by what crimson is saying though, he seems like he has an idea (but im slightly too computer illiterate to know what he's on about)
Crimson said to reformat, which might not be a bad idea if you have had it for a while, but you can only do that if you have the Windows XP disk. Do you have a copy of the XP CD?
FIXED IT YAY turns out it was to do with zonealarm, but to fix it, i had to uninstall it, delete the registtry files, and a couple of other things, then install the update.
sorry i was so vauge.. you might have some spyware or a virus or even another program that is running that will interfere with it.. try running it without zone alarm on.. if you ar running through a router then you really dont need a software firewall.. becasue the router has one built in hardware.. also try doing this without Norton runnning.. I know i was having trouble with my DVD Burning Sofware if i had this Anti-virus running that i used to use.. its just process of elimination.. and like i said if you still cant figure it out.. just backup your data .. format.. and start again
