Under the guise of fighting terrorism, the US government has created a huge secret infrastructure to monitor and store information about Americans. Gathering info from every domestic agency, local, regional and federal, the intelligence community now has more info available on every American than ever before.

And it's not just your standard data they're collecting. It's also location and movement info, biometric data including face, fingerprint and iris scans, dna, and more! And much of this info is collected without your knowledge or consent.

So all you need is to be seen as "acting suspicious" just ONCE, by someone you don't know who doesn't know you or even come in contact with you, and suddenly you are a suspected terrorist, now subject to the highest level of scrutiny...

And as we know, there are likely to be one million or more people with access to this information about you. So what is to stop someone from copying this data and releasing it publicly like Bradley Manning supposedly did with the diplomatic cables?

Your garbage men are watching you too...

Oh, gee... Spy on your neighbors, friends and family! Just like out of 1984! Can we spy on our government too with this app? Catch them in the act of betraying the American people? That would be a good app.

Hey how about a Wikileaks app that uploads your data straight to wikileaks! Now there's an app I'd get (if I only had a smartphone!)

If you want to see how scary this is, look at these testimonials for the app...

Just wait till some "third-grader" takes a snap of someone, and the kid later gets found in pieces strewn across the city... It will happen one day.

If you're gonna recruit children as "crime fighters" you better expect some of them to end up dead...

And please tell me how a 3rd grader will know if something is "suspicious". And obviously this isn't being used to fight terror as you can see. It's being used to report anything.

And they say they will release these reports into the public domain after investigation because even if the "perp" did get charged, they might still be criminals or terrorists!

the trick is for everybody to act suspiciously all the time

then we'll all be in the database, and it will become meaningless . . .

No the better thing to do would be to photograph EVERYONE, no matter what they're doing and post it up. Flood them with BS images they have to investigate. Esp. take pics of cops, esp when off-duty. Let them investigate each other...

Or what if ppl sent in porn images and say "this is my dad showing me his penis", etc... lol!

Maybe Anonymous would like to get involved in that... They've got lots of great images handy... ;)

Everybody who has ever typed the word "revolution" on this site is definitely in this database.

Anyone that still believes in the 2nd amendment and our right to use it against our own government is certainly in this database.

i think that is meant to be a joke. it scared me the first time i saw it too.

    http://downloadsquad.switched.com/2...t-be-real-but-the-privacy-implications-are-r/

pretty sure it isn't real.. but the fact that I couldn't tell until I found this site is kind of disturbing.

edit: haha.. I get it.. the website says it was developed by George Parsons and Winston OBrien. (Winston is the main character in 1984, OBrien is the antagonist. The Parsons live nextdoor to Winston.) And that the company behind it is Minitru (ministry of truth)

    that`s pretty clever..:D

Just as I was reading this, they were advertising an iphone app that acts as your personal assistant... keeps track of everything for you.

and without a doubt... them as well.

Are you certain it isn't just designed to look like an obvious fake so we ignore it and then they are free to impliment their nefarious plot and enslave all of humanity?

Did you see that guy that shot the dude after painting a V on the wall like in V for Vendetta? I wish I knew the specifics because I realize how stupid I sound saying "that guy that shot the dude."
