    Avoid soy products at all costs, there is significant research to support it as a health concern rather than a healthier option to dairy. Fermented soy, eg tempeh is ok. The fermentation renders it safe. Personally I avoid all soy products.

    It is full of nasties that go from inhibiting vitamin and mineral uptake and absorption to causing cancer. Please research this product thoroughly before you consider consuming it. Too much to go into, please trust me, im a practitioner.

    Another to avoid like the plague is canola oil. Was called rapeseed. It is an industrial lubricant and should not be consumed. Safest to cook with is coconut oil.

    The best grain is rice, so milks etc made from rice are the safest to switch to when going dairy free. It is the least reactive for those with any food sensitivities.

    I have an advanced diploma of Naturopathy, which means i am a herbalist, Naturopath, nutritionist and homoeopath. I have a diploma of each, meaning i can use one or all disciplines. The course no longer exists in my country as the attrition rate was too high. Yes you can trust my advice people.

    If you had said Dietitian, I might have trusted your advice. But the list of Woo qualifications tells me to not to trust you at all.

    I will do my own looking into the subject (thank you for bringing it up) and then decide for myself.

    How come every website that I've come across since googling about your claims says that the FDA or the WHO recommends limiting the consumption of coconut oils, because unlike other oils it is high in saturated fat (rather than unsaturated fat) and is almost impossible to cook with it without it becoming hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated?

    hmmm

    Most of the Canola oil we get is from a genetically modified rapeseed ( field mustard) patented by Monsanto canada, and its gone feral! :eek:

    Wiki;

    "A genetically engineered rapeseed that is tolerant to herbicide was first introduced to Canada in 1995. Today 80% of the acres sown are genetically modified canola. A 2010 study conducted in North Dakota found herbicide resistant transgenes in 80% of wild natural rapeseed plants. The escape of the genetically modified plants has raised concerns that the build-up of herbicide resistance in feral canola and related weeds could make it more difficult to manage these plants using herbicides."

    Not speaking about the OP's credentials, but she is correct about soy products;

    http://www.naturalhealthstrategies.com/dangers-of-soy.html

    http://articles.***********/sites/articles/archive/2010/12/04/soy-dangers-summarized.aspx

    http://www.westonaprice.org/soy-alert/studies-showing-adverse-effects-of-soy

    many, many more such articles can easily be found.
    I will also say I did find one site debunking all the dangers as myths, but it was owned and sponsored by Silk, who make buttloads of $$$$ from selling soy based products, so........:rolleyes:

    likewise, the weston price foundation has a vested interest in smearing soy products as they are advocates for the consumption of cows milk.

    I appreciate the feedback. My claims for soy come from numerous sources. I would encourage you to research it yourselves. Too time consuming.

    Regarding coconut oil and cooking. A saturated fat is a carbon chain with hydrogen in every space, hence saturation. This makes the product stable at a high temperature. When an unsaturated fat (free bonds, not saturated in hydrogen) is heated it becomes unstable and generates free radicals. No unsaturated oil is heat stable. The saturated oil in coconut is of a shorter chain and healthy versus the chains of saturated fat in animal products. Hydrogenation is when in a lab hydrogen is added to "saturate" a chain and make a liquid solid. eg margarine. In looking at chemistry I don't know how a saturated fat cooking can undergo hydrogenation to create trans fats.

    The WHO and FDA are the people involved with taking over alternative health practitioners ability to practice and make money from herbs and vitamins etc. They are involved with pharmaceutical companies and ultimately the government who want to make it illegal to grow your own foods. They want us to eat genetically modified foods that have not been tested on humans and cause cancer in lab rats... So you can right me off and follow them. I won't be.

    Please look into the knowledge that a Nutritionist has over a dietician. You will find a dietician in a hospital feeding rancid oils in old fish to cardio vascular patients along with deserts that I can prove rob the body of nutrients needed to repair the heart. They only study food as per the FDA and WHO. They know nothing of nutrients and the bio chemistry that goes with it. Also the FDA has changed all the recommended daily allowances (RDA) to levels that do almost nothing for your health. The people whom you trust are the ones who are trying to destroy our health. Worldwide. You need to do research. A dietician killed my Dad and gave him a heart attack in hospital. As a Nutritionist I have cured many a cardio problem.

    Look at the brain on autopsy of a Japanese soy eater. You can see the cellular death that is a result of soy. Find these studies people. I spoke to a doctor who witnessed this. It is consistent with the consumption of soy. Nothing else. Yes you shit slingers... It renders you brain dead...sounds like you are on the way... eat up!!! or shut up, I'm trying to educate health conscious people. Not entertain idiots.

    No, he's pretty funny. Learn to take a joke. It's nice to see that you can be mature about it- yes the poster made an immature comment (albeit pretty hilarious) but when you retort with 'you're an idiot' it also shows your immaturity. (Yes, this makes me a hypocrite because I'm a fucking asshole, but it takes one to know one, huh?)

    You provided us with information, told us to trust you without any proof of credentials then gave us inaccurate information about something else.

    Thanks again
