This joins the AMD "FreeSync" standard as one of those basic significant improvements to monitors and TVs that is about to become standard making even cheap monitors look significantly better with a few years. Its similar to bass boost type technology that empowers a cheesy little speaker to put out more respectable bass, but for improving the picture quality of monitors that can't reproduce the right brightness levels or darker scenes and could use a little help. The difference can be dramatic with one complaint of both move makers and video game players being that they have trouble adapting their lighting and contrast to every cheap monitor and TV out there and have to fudge by "simulating" darkness using red lighting or whatever. Using this kind of standard even a cheap LCD monitor or TV should be able to look much more like a 4k monitor and with FreeSync it means no more screen tearing or bad lighting.
