Hi all! I'm new to the pod game (lol) and was wondering which type is the best for tea? I'm looking at some large dried Arizona Purple pods, but the price was so cheap I'm skeptical if these are any good or not. Are there any I should stay AWAY from? Whaddaya think?

Ah yes, erowid, wikipedia, bluelight, hip forums, poppies.org, shroomery, tokeup, yahoo, google, etc. etc...I've researched pods for 3 days and still can't get any straight answers on some things. People are conflicted on effects, preparation methods, strains, and virtually everything else regarding poppy pod tea, I wonder if anyone even knows what the eff they're talking about?!

Oh, and I know they need to be somniferum, but there are so many subcategories within that--Turkish, Tazmanian, Hens and Chickens, Persian White, blah blah--as well as an assortment of colors and sizes, that it gets a bit confusing. I only ask because I don't wanna get sick or hurt myself on these things, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I like the arizona purple pods-mediums. I crack them open after removing the stem and toss the seeds. Then I grind them in a coffee grinder. I put them in 3/4 of a cup of almost bioling water along with the juice of one lemon. I stir and let it steep for 15 minutes and then strain it in a coffee filter, french press or tea strainer.
To mask the taste I drink it with orange juice.
A lot of people find them addicting. I didn't. I used them mostly for pain and a couple of times for recreational use. I have a box in my cuboard and think it's going to be there for awhile.
PS-Be careful. You can OD on poppy pod tea. Also note, it takes 3 hours for it to peak and feel it's full affects. It is better not to feel super high rather than die from and OD.

Yeah, my use of opiates is VERY limited as it is, with me only using hydrocodone in therapeutic doses once in a while, so addiction and overdose are very frightening phenomena to me. I will be careful. I plan to start by grinding up the whole supply, mixing the powder to homogenize, then using only one pod to start with. I've researched pod tea extensively and am gonna try a couple methods of preparation out to find which is best. I've heard people compare them to hydrocodone and percocet but never heroin or anything much stronger than that, which is good. I'm looking for a hydro alternative, as well as an escape from being dependent on shady dealers...not a daily addiction.

    Thanks!
