Yeah, I've heard good things about the iPod. I've been considering getting one myself even though I use a PC, my clunky CD player is getting to be too "analog" for my taste.
Yeah, the hard drive is definitely a major plus. 20 gigs is more than some laptops even have. If it weren't for the $200+ price tag I'd already own one, but that's the problem. Do you *have* to pay for the songs/albums on the ipod, or is it possible to also store downloaded music as well?
iTunes is the way to go. They have fast downloads and you don't have to worry about getting a virus or getting sued by the RIAA. cc
apple computers are the way to go period if you don't want viruses or pop-ups. the itunes music store is great, the sound quality is unsurpassed. there is also this great file sharing program called "limewire" available for the apple platform, and you can find a lot of other music there.
What it really boils down to when it comes to Mac vs. a Win based (or whatever OS) PC is how much you are willing to learn about either one. I would never get myself a Mac. Why? Because I already know how to use a Win based PC and not get viruses and pop-ups. It has absolutely nothing to do with it being a PC at all. Those types of occurances don't happen because of the hardware you use they happen from lack of knowledge and not using software programs to prevent or eliminate them. And don't take this as a bash against Apple because it's not meant to be. I'm just trying to state that even if you own a Mac, if you don't know what you're doing, you're still going to have the same problems.
Not necessarily, because Mac users make up a much smaller percent of the market than Windows users. So there is obviously going to be a lot less problems for Mac users than Windows users (same with Linux). From what I understand Macs are made for ease of use and simplicity, which is good if you want to surf the net and dowload a few songs, but personally I like to do a bit more.
Yeah but don't we all go out onto the same internet and the same sites making us all vulnerable to the same viruses and spyware?
I haven't gotten a virus ever using a macintosh, and I've been using them for over ten years now. Also, I have not had any limitations as to being productive with my computer, it is my digital media powerhouse, crunching through video editing, all of my photography, webdesign, it's my jukebox, everything it needs to be and I have yet to find something I wanted to do with it that I couldn't get done. These Apple computers are really amazing, they can quickly end most of your computing headaches. I just had to clear up the confusion, they even make Microsoft Office for MacOS X now so there should not be any issues for anyone wanting to switch.
Mac OS X rocks. I'm using Panther 10.3.5. no problems; no viruses; no irq conflicts; it just works... freeing my time to create poetry. Love I-tunes esp. the fractal graphics. I love the software update and security as well as the interface. Bright Blessings.
