    I really don't know, but you should ask in the Canadian forum? Lots of Canadians on these threads though, someone will have a good answer for you I am sure....;-)

    For anyone to answer this with any meaning for you, you would have to define what you mean by 'hippie places'.

    I've been coast to coast a few times (both hitchin and driving), and I have met good people in the strangest of places...

    Taking up reading minds rolling?? Just what is a hippie? What are hippie values? What is that 'hippie' feeling...

    Silly me... I thought all those things were totally dependent on the mind set of the person saying them...

    :)

    p.s. I had to remove some of your damned mickey mouses or I couldn't put my own smiley face!!!

    go to kingston ontario...right downtown you can catch a ferry to wolfe island[free]...there is 90 wind turbines on the island to sightsee as well as a big 'hippie' community...more like evolved hippies...best in the summer...here in Perth we have all kinds of studio tours and one of ontarios finest producer based organic farmers market...one of canadas first communes was started on a farm in lanark county,,,the owners still live there and are still hippies

    I will get details but according to the nutty daughter of the couple that started it...some time in the 60s...apparantly it was quite well known back in the day

    K, well let me preface this by saying they 'could' be the oldest that is still going... Which is an amazing thing and they should be proud as shit over it...

    BUT;

    Besides that, I know of at least two other places that were established in the 60's.... One of which is still up and running (and not accepting contacts), the other is still in operation and still denying they are a commune... lol (and also shuns contact).

    the couple still lives there but I am pretty sure they arent in the commune business any more...they still live the life,just a slightly more refined one..if that makes sense

    lol, it not only makes sense, it relates to my comment about the one 'commune' I was referring to denying they were ever a commune... just a family farm. Yet they had more people (of the hippie leaning) go through over the last 50 years then almost any place I know of in canada.

    One of the most common things I have found in talking to people who started on this path a long time ago and have stuck to it, is a general disgust for what the word commune has come to mean. To most people these days, it instantly conjures up images of people sitting around half naked, fucking and smoking weed and dropping hits, with all the work being 'magically' done for them...

    This is also why I asked for clarification in what the OP meant....

    The answers to their question differ greatly depending if they want to find that 'hippie' feeling in a city, a town, or the country... and wether or not they feel that people must be vegetarian to be 'hippie'... or wether or not they feel that drugs are good or bad... or which ones that they do... if they believe in a god or gods as part of their hippie beliefs... Are they sheep, wolf or an Individual? and so on....

    All of these things change where a person will find that 'hippie' feeling...

    actually what i was referring to was kind of what you said,like a mixture of all of that,just really easy-going down to earth and luv earth kind of hippie,not really the running around naked people,lol...just that artsy kind of place without the snooty artsy people and organic farms,just free-spirited people kind of place,thanx
