hmmmm best album? I have to say Are You Experienced, for during his lifetime and The Cry Of Love for an early posthumous album, Radio One for a later posthumous album.
It's very hard to choose one. For me, it's becoming a tie between Are You Experienced (which has to be the greatest debut album in history) and First Rays of the New Rising Sun which works really well in the version that the Experience Hendrix folks put out a few years back. If he had lived to complete his vision for the album, I think that would have been greater than any of his works previous to it...and my guess is that had he lived, he would have topped that one as well.
The MCA Box is kickass, but if that doesn't count, Band of Gypsies. Hendrix may not be prog rock(he did have his progressive moments though) but he almost became part of ELP... they'd be HELP, now, if he didn't die.
i love most of Hendrix's stuff, there's maybe 2 or 3 songs i DON'T like on DVD i have him playing.. woodstock berkeley isle of wight and i also have the making of Electric Ladyland i've been searching all over to find Jimi Hendrix: Live at the Fillmore
I've got all of those, too. You have Rainbow Bridge?? gotta get it... I love ALL of Hendrix's works....but Electric Ladyland is a masterpiece..and if Im feelin funky, Band of Gypsys
