I often envision myself shredding dirt like mad to "Big River," although this song is really a Cash original often covered by the Dead.

But there were lots of good dancing Dead songs...I agree particularly with Franklin's Tower and China Cat Sunflower...

easy wind isnt a ballad, but me and my uncle is, isnt it? it tells a story and doesnt have a chorus... i dont know, i could be wrong...

oh, and i left out an "and"... should have read "...and ballads...". fixed it though

No Me & My Uncle is not a ballad. Plenty of their songs tell a story and don't have a chorus. No offense man, but you probably should know the band a bit more before making such posts.

Its cool man, like I said no offense. I was just a bit suprised that someone with the user name Jack Straw would list Easy Wind and Me & My Uncle as two of their songs not fit for dancing. My reasoning being that Me & My Uncle is one of their faster paced songs and the middle jam from Easy Wind during the pigpen era is as rock and roll as it gets - enough to wake a dead man to shake their bones.

Even though...they're covers two of my favorite Dead dancing songs are Good Lovin' and After Midnight. Fire on the Mountain, Golden Road to Unlimited Devotion, and Scarlet Begonias really rock the casbah.

Yeah, the dead calls Scarlet Begonias and Fire On The Mountain "Scarlet Mountain", and i also think "Scarlet Mountain" is the best song to dance to.

    Peace and Love,

This is a real tough question but I would have to say Shakedown Street (I can never prevent myself from dancing when that songs played) or Truckin' (Nice song to listen to when driving with friends
