I have used a couple brands before, but never noticed them working too good. You guys know of anything that keeps flies away?
muskol!!!! unquestionably the best! and, as a bonus, it smells so sexy! who needs cologne when you've got muskol? i'm going to go spray some on right now.
It does'nt matter what you get, as long as it has deet in it. Muskol has deet, Cutter has deet, Off has deet. The best you'll get is 30% deet, but I think you can get pure deet and make higher mixtures yourself. Maybe someone else knows about that. I don't know why people get bit so much. I live in florida and I never get bit. They go after my dad alot though.
ahhh... don't use deet! deet is a strong pesticide, do you really want that soaking into your body? Read up on it before you use it folks! Try the natural way, i find essential oils to be effective, you've just gotta reapply a bit more often... citronella, lemongrass, eucalyptus, peppermint, geranium... all of these repel insects... All Terrain insect repellent has a good combination and lasts longer than most natural ones.please don't head out into nature soaked in pesticide
Yeah...DEET is a pretty potent chemical but it is really the only thing that really works. The natural stuff, citronella etc. will not repell the bugs of Alaska. I refuse to use it on my kids so my four y/o looks like she has chicken pox during the early summer when the mosquitoes are the most aggressive. The smell of Cutter is called Alaskan aftershave up here.
I think it does mess up the ozone layer, it is a chemical substance, and it also doesn't come in environmentally friendly packaging. I'd love to see a solution that could be made, such as the essential oils that were mentioned. I think making your own is the way to go for a number of reasons, mainly environmental impact, health, and not contributing to the inflated pockets of the chemical manufacturers.
best bet, but It'll make you stinky... eat a clove of raw garlic.... the smell of garlic repels bugs really well...
My mom makes this all natural bug lotion from water, olive oil, catnip, pennyroyal, calendula, basil, citronella, vitamin e, and beeswax. It is seriously awesome...I use it all the time and I never get bit!
