It's already midnight here, I just finished reading (730 pages in two weeks. It's a brilliant book, by the way) and am going down to the kitchen for one bottle. God I'm so tired.
color doesnt matter too much in terms of quality, and its only marginally indicative of flavor. of course its a result primarily of the malts used, and this will be a big component of the final flavor, but the yeast and hops have as much, if not more, influence on the flavor - as a very GENERAL rule, anyway. this beer, for instance, is a schwarzbier, a lager which is made in an almost identical style to a pilsner, except that it uses dark malts. the crisp hop character and refreshing lager characteristics hold true, and it is only slightly different in flavor from beers with completely different appearances. but it is different, just not very. still, its fucking delicious, and it makes for an awesome session beer in the wintertime when you may want something a little more substantial, but still refreshing and easy to drink. when consumed at room temperature, the "dark beer" qualities do come out more, and it almost resembles a porter. but when chilled, its much more like a "normal" lager
I know nothing about beer. good beer bad beer, whatever else. I usually just buy Miller Lite wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiineeee however, :cheers2:
aw, i almost tried a new czech beer i hadn't had before today, it was a tough decision, but i hadnt had this stuff in a while. there are a couple czech beers i haven't had before at the store, and of course there's pilsner urquell which is currently on sale anyway and so i was very tempted... but i'm still happy with my choice i found out on beeradvocate though that there is a czech shwarzbier...i've never seen it in a store, but its called Krušovice Cerne...but all i can find from the czech republic around here are golden lagers. which is ok, cause i love those, too
I'm more of a malt kinda girl, heavy on the hops, not so much.:cheers2: I'm losing weight, so sadly have been drinking Amstel Light. Not bad for 5 carbs. But for only 4.6 carbs more, Samuel Adams Light is a pretty flavorful beer.
I LOVE black (černé) Krušovice! Yay for Krušovice! how come you can buy beers from the little Czech republic and I can't buy beers from the great States..
i like beerz that are a dolla that's tomorrow night last night we had MGD for three dollas mmmm i am thinking of not drinking tonight...maybe....
hmm...i dont know! i mean, good american beer is a relatively recent phenomenon, and its still mostly swill on the market. you folks have had your shit together for some time though:cheers2: plus most of our good beer is made by companies small enough that its a struggle to get it distributed all over our own country, let alone worrying about exporting it. the big names can afford to export to foreign markets, but the big companies all make mostly shitty beer, so why bother exporting it to places that have something GOOD they could drink for less money than imported swill? i here budwieser is exported to the UK though, its just about the only american beer they serve there i guess. plus on top of that america is a nation of immigrants and their descendants. people long for some of the little things they leave behind...certain foods, beers, wines, you know. so they have it shipped in. and even if they never lived there, if you grow up in a household where the parents or grandparents are drinking stuff from germany or the czech republic or the UK or something, then you may be more inclined to also grow to like it.... i dont know, though. if i could teleport, i'd totally bring you some good american beers to try, but unfortunately it would cost an arm and a leg to have it shipped
the one he's talking about is they just ripped off the name but it tastes completely different i'm all for the european bud myself sooooooo good
damn you and your beer threads, i'm about to crack one at 530... i don't got shit to do, i'm skipping my class.....
yes, there is an american beer called budweiser. you probably aren't familiar with it. and you're not missing anything. edit: i think there is a czech beer by the same name... perhaps...
