Did anyone see the meteor shower last night? I grabbed my long board and skated to the darkest part of town. Smoked a bowl and then just watched the sky for a few hours. It was absolutely beautiful, staring up at the sky, lost in oblivion...... I felt so wonderfully small. It's happening again tonight and supposed to be extremely visible. Perhaps a good time to trip? I think so
i couldnt last night it was raining here, but i plan on escaping to catch it tonight tripping would be cool, but while trpping the sky appears to be having a meteor shower anyway...so i'm gonna not trip and still be amazed :sifone:
yea it was raining here to but i had no idea it was going on either way.. are you from md goodvibes??
I think a little after 12 and GP I'm pretty sure in can be seen in most places across NA. Decided not to trip tonight, not sure why, just didn't feel it, but I still will be enjoying the wonderful sky.
yeah it's gotta feel right, and like i said earlier, i think seeing such a beautiful natural occurence sober (stoned maybe) will be even better :sifone:
too much light pollution, fuck that shit also i wish it didnt rain yesterday so i could seen it at its peak oh well there will be more
i saw the biggest meteor i have ever seen in my life. it was a quarter the size of the half-moon, it streaked across the sky for 3 solid seconds, visibily breaking up and exploding in brilliant white colors, and it left a visible smoke trail across the sky which lasted for 10 seconds and glowed in the moonlight. Last night, even in a shitty light-polluted field near my house, i saw roughly 1 meteor every minute, and thats not looking up at the sky, thats talking to a friend while drunk and on AMT. holy smokes folks, dont miss out on this! go out tonight and tomorrow night too, they will still be at their peak of performance.
Two nights ago I saw a few, but it was cloudy. Last night when it was supposed to peak, it was extremely cloudy, I didnt see it, but it still happened.
this is visible 24 hours a day from the northern hemisphere. Obviously you won't see anything until night time, around 11 pm or so it should be dark enough, assuming you dont live in a metropolis, in which case you might not see anything. the best way to see them is to lie on your back, listen to music or bring a companion or what have you, as this can be drudgery for a while, but simply stare straight up and unfocus your eyes. try to take in the whole sky at once, and you will see them popping up in your periphery and sometimes you will get lucky and one will explode and burn and streak exactly where your pupil is pointing to, unfocused, and it will automatically focus on this new stimuli, and you will have an existential slap in the face as you suddenly see you and that mosquito you just swatted are not so different at all ;]
I got to enjoy a spectacular shower years ago. There was so much, it was like cosmic rain. I dont think I will be able to watch it this year, its so fucking cloudy here.
