I was talking to a rich, beautiful friend of mine recently about her summer and she said she'd gone to a festival in Devon. When I asked her about it, she said that she'd been going down to her family friends' estate (as in rich estate, not crumbling tenement block) in Devon every other weekend for the last 18 years, that her brother and uncle live there, and that her friends there put on a festival on the estate called Beautiful Days. Thought it was pretty mad that she's best friends with the organisers, she cotched with Bill Bailey and all. I told her I knew people who went, but then modified the verb - I never know how to refer to those whose existence I know of, whose general demeanour and views I can gauge, with whom I've often had conversations, but who I've never met, and so can't really know. Anyway, she was impressed and happy that I knew of it, all part of my grand master plan to ensnare her. I might check it out next year if I'm around. Before anyone reprimands me, I can see the argument that this should be in Parties and Protests, but it's not strictly about the festival, but a conversation about the festival, and I don't know about you guys but i often don't check subforums, I'm a working man now.
Having been to Waveform and being a native of Devonshire, I can officially say...FUCK BEAUTIFUL DAYS!
Well, I enjoy Beautiful Days, it's one of my favourite festivals. It's run by the Levellers and they're great guys. After you've ensared her, be sure to try to nationalise her assets, there's a good chap....
 no, I've been good tihs week. Just most of us know that BD is a rip off and has become full of pretentious bullshit.
Just most then ? The ticket price is too high because they wish to employ stars for their stage, only a fairly comfortably waged family can now afford to go, hence your sense of pretension. Still a nice and safe festival for familys but they need to do something about the price level, less names and a cheaper price. Its not the bands that make a festival it is the audience hope they get back the awareness.
Yeah, it must cost a load to get the Levellers to headline the last day of the festival every single year. I can't imagine what sort of contract/pay agreement is going on there
Didn't know this would spark off this raging debate. How much is it? I've never gone to a festival you pay for, at least not more than a fiver anyway. I can't imagine ever having the money to go, but if I she gets me a ticket and drives me down I'm more than happy to go. I guess everyone would do that though.
