I also really really love Please Please Me, A Hard Day's Night, Help!, Rubber Soul, Sgt. Pepper's, The Beatles, and Abbey Road.... With the Beatles and Beatles For Sale are alright... Let it Be sucks ass, thanks to Phil Spector. I'm just now getting into their Anthology albums and all their demos that I can find... take 1 for "A Day In the Life", before all the editing, is sooo great.
I can't choose a fav album either, but i love paul's songs' more than the others.But every beatles song is great! Nowadays I am reading Beatles:10 years that shook the world. It is a great really.
I agree with Obladi Oblada, but When I'm 64 is really good, imo.... Paul says my name in the song. :H "Eleanor Rigby" is not very good, "The Long and Winding Road" is one of the worst songs I've heard ever, "Let it Be" is quite shitty too... hmm what else... "Mr. Moonlight" is quite bad... that's all I can think of.
the version of A Day In The Life on Anthology 2 is Take 6, but if you really have Take 1, please send it to me!
'The Long And Winding Road' is a great song (even after what Spector did to it), but the version on Anthology 3 is better than the one on Let It Be.
Does take 6 open with John saying "dub the mic on the piano quite low, just keepin' it like maraccas"... etc etc.. i prolly messed that up .... but its only John and Paul there, and at the end of Paul's verse he says "oh shit"? I saw the tracklist for Anthology 2, and there is no Take 1, that's just what the file said on Bearshare..
But but all the songs that your write as bad beatles songs, are great for me. Obladi-oblada, and when i am sixty-four is great either. The long and winding road is one of my favourites(but not the let it be naked version), Paul says he doesn't like his voice at eleanor rigby, but it is a good song too. For me every beatles song is great!
I was wrong, the version on Anthology 2 is a combination of takes 1, 2, 6 & Edit Piece, recorded on 01-19-1967.
