I'm so terrified of them. I keep having nightmares about bears. The other night I had a dream about a bear on a unicycle, taking all of my mail out of my mail box. Lay off the druuugs maybe? It all started when my friend said "We should go camping!!" Shortly after she said that, I was reading news articles all the time about people in Canada being killed by bears. I just wish they'd get out of my dreams!
lol..the unicycle ones are tame I have real bad arm pain at night and constantly (just about every night) dream that bears are chewing off my arm but I've kind of got used to it now and it doesnt bother me so much
Bears are more afraid of you, then you are of them. People overestimate their ferocity. But you do have grizzly in Canada don't you? They are the biggest and meanest, maybe you shouldn't carry any picnic baskets to be on the safe side.
bears are very powerful as symbols because they are very physically strong creatures in real life. it is perhaps for this reason that in some cultures they became symbols of healing, having the power to overcome disease. they don't, in real life, look for humans or anything else to attack. (they like fish though, and as with ourselves, will eat almost anything. and being omnivours, they eat a LOT of plant material) there are several things that humans sometimes do around bears that are stupid and get them attacked, and because our dominant cultures have so isolated us from the rest of existence there is wide-spread ignorance of them. basically, whatever you see going about its life out in the woods, leave it the eff alone and let it do so. the little ones are always cute but the big mommas really really don't like seeing anything else trying to get close to them. of course that doesn't just go for bears. nor is that the only thing. don't mess with their lunch either. and if you need to keep them from messing with anything, keep it out of their sight and out of their reach. also out of their smell. all in all though, unless you go out of your way to not pay attention to what you are doing, and do something really stupid, nothing that large and intelligent is likely to be any slower to try and stay out of your way then you are of theirs.
This is awful advice. Every Canadian knows that you SHOULD carry at least one picnic basket with you at all times. That way if you do encounter a grizzly, you throw the picnic basket at it and you get yourself a 4 second head start.
I'd be more concerned about the mail he was stealing out of your box . He may be an identity thief . If you start getting strange bills , with massive amounts of food purchases . This bear has been wanted for years ! Ranger Rick has spent his career tracking him .He goes by the name of Yogi , Hangs around another known thief named BOO-BOO . They can usually be spotted around Jellystone Forrest , pulling scams to steal "pic-a-nic" baskets and mail . Here is a quote by ranger Rick ------ " If that bear now has a unicycle for transportation , we're all in trouble . I've been saying for years , this bear is a killer , and a criminal mastermind . Maybe now someone will believe me . God help us all ! "
Yes but you only need to carry the picnic basket when alone. If with other people just make sure there's someone running slower than you.
