I made the resin with about the ammount of bay leaves shown in this picture. Actually, a little bit more because I tried burning a decent ammount of that dry material after I had filtered it out of the solution. There are also 10 cloves blended in there because I like the flavor that cloves impart on smoke. Here is the final ammount of resin that I scraped up after I did the evaporation Here is it unfolded Here is a dab on aluminum foil And without further delay, here is the video of that dab being burnt! I haven't smoked it up yet at all but it is looking good. It doesn't form much of a smoke but small bubbles form when the tar is burnt/subjected to heat. This is probably carbon dioxide with various other plant chemicals in it. Any suggestions for the best way to smoke this up? UPDATE #1: I just smoked a tiny dab of it on top of some tin foil with holes to let the smoke go into a pipe. After one or two pulls, I was able to get a nice, somewhat thick smoke on the third which exhaled just like cigarette smoke but not as dense. I feel very, very minor effects but I can definietly feel a small something itching at me. If I do more of it some other time (maybe tonight?) possibly on top of a minor part of a dry bay leaf, I will get optimal effects. (Plus, this way it will probably taste less like tar -.-) I will keep you guys posted.
UPDATE #2: I took the pictured below: (With my pinky for comparison). Headed to the park with a pipe and put that in it. After various complications I would say that I probably got only 3 or 4 good hits on it. The smoke was really.... Chestbusing. I would mix it in with more stuff next time. After I got up and started walking a bit I didnt feel anything for about a minute or two which is unusual for me with bayleaf but then it hit me. I started feeling warmer and got sweaty (still warm about 15 mins later). My sense of direction was a little bit sketchy and I had a feeling like I was dizzy but I was still in control of all of my movement. I started getting smiley like usualy with a lift and a relaxment like usually. However, these are rather minor. The only new thing here is that I never really got that weird dizzy-like thing at all and I never got as warm. Also, apart of the dizzy-like feeling moving my head sideways or turning at higher than walking pace caused a small distortion as if I was spinning very fast. And going down stairs it was like I was moving.... differently. So I can definitely tell I'm getting somewhere but not a dosage high enough to get far out of usual bay leaf. Next up, I'll try making a joint with some resin in it. UPDATE #3: I had to spread the resin on the rolling paper. I used some kind of EZ-Wider that comes in an orange book and has a pic of a guy smoking on the front. It is rather strong which is good. It only ripped a tiny bit at one end. Then I put on a tiny bit of crushed bay leaves and some tobacco from a pack of Camel Turkish Royals from last friday (eww, that's gonna be gross and stale). Next, I rolled it up. I forgot that the resin was semisolid and not so rollable so I had to make a very wierd roll. I'll smoke it up tomorrow. UPDATE #4: The joint idea was the biggest waste of resin -.-. The resin wouldn't burn on its own so we would have to keep the lighter on the resin to get smoke from it. That said, the tobacco/tiny ammount of crushed bayleaf kept on burning leaving the resin half intact. We each got maybe 2 good hits of the resin which (this time) hit us immediately. The resin worked great but the method was terrible. When I get a bong, I will DEF bong it.
UPDATE #5: I smoked bay leaf resin in a glass pipe. It takes a while to cook but it starts to produce some really harsh, but good smoke. Within an instance, I felt warmer, lifted up, more energetic. This was in a small dose. If I crammed it with resin, I wonder what would happen.
Thanks, It's fun just to see how you did it all. I bought some bay leaves from the store - Turkish - and smoked a couple of them. I guess I felt a little something, but not much. Maybe my body still has to adjust to it. I usually don't feel anything the first time I try something new, anyway.
Heres some tips: crush it until its very small. Roll it as tight as you can. It will fall out the front if you don't. Smoking it in a blunt works best. Remember, effects are minor. I usually feel something minor but significant at 2-4 leaves crushed up in a joint. I will try the joint idea by rolling it up tonight and probably smoking it in between the subway cars tomorrow or at an empty train station. Thats a good way to do it, empty train station. Above ground preferably.
Would you say a joint or blunt rather than a pipe or water bong? This is very interesting to me, I only question if these topics would be better posted in exotic plants or other drugs or something.
Eh, I like the salvia community. Anyways, I just updated so you should check that post. I tried a pipe but getting hits on it was very hard because it was deep and bay leaf and resin both are kind of hard to keep on fire. Hopefully, the paper and tobacco will contribute like it has before for me. I would do a bong but I simply don't have one. lol
Hehe. I really do prefer blunts thou because bay leaf has a ton of trouble burning on its own. You will probably have to re-light it a couple times.
