Hate to add to the list of advice threads but i don't know to much about this. I just started to jam with two of my friends and i have somethin' like a 15w amp. needless to say, it is barely audible. I'm gunna be buying a new amp soon and want to know what kind of wattage i should get. Any input would help!

I'm not sure about the wattage, but you should get a marshall. one of the best amps around

ah right, im just going from personal experience. All my friends and their parents are musicians or have something to do with music and sound equipment and thats around average for gigs and stuff...can be turned low too you know :p
just nice to have something to shake the walls with when you want :D

Bass amps and guitar amps are different..
I find it hard to believe a 15W peaking cant be heard.. are you sure your volume on your instrument is turned up, the pots cleaned?
Any split gain on the Amp? Is the speaker hooked up correctly (+)(-)? Is your cable any good? are you preamping it before Main Amp?
Is it plugged in the wall to get electric?
    Is the speaker torn.
Does the amp smell like charcoal, burnt plastic?

25W to 50W you could rumble the house.. Still theres a 15watts amp in a 50watt amp. Thats really all your peaking or less anyways.. :)

i try to doubt you as little as possible orison but 15 watts isnt cutting it. i like to think that i have the musical talent it takes to turn up an amp :p.

Theres nothing wrong with the amp guaranteed, nothings dirty (Brand new bass), and im sure my cords are set up proper. Ive got everything jacked and you can hear it flutter so im woried about blowin the poor thing. ive heard 4x and 3x the guitar amp but i dunno

well, for a regular guitar 300 should do it

i don't know if that carries over to bass though, your best bet would be finding a bass forum and lurking around there

i know there's a bunch of music forums, however i'm not sure if there's specifically a guitar forum, let alone a bass one.

    good luck! :cheers2:

haha either way it's awesome, none of the girls i've been with in the past knew how to play, so I always tried to teach them, but to no avail

my dream gf would be someone I could jam with for hours at a time, that would be fun

haha i'll jam with you all you want, except YOU'RE the one who's going to do all the soloing.

i can't solo worth shit, and i don't really like to either... but i can keep a mean rhythm haha

Lol stop playing on a 15 watt amp or you will blow it.
I usually play on a 100 watt guitar amp, which is enough for if your are playing by yourself. but I sugest to go with something around 300 watts.

dude most of these responses are terrible. you need a 300w guitar amp to be heard? are you fucking kidding me? I have a 50 watt mesa tube amp and i have no problem being heard over drums, bass, anything. I know solid state amps are quiter but still my 100 watt peavey was a solid state and plenty loud.

As far as a bass amp is concerned, you'll be good with 100-150 watts.
