I'm planning on going to bartending school asap. I live in Jersey- anyone know if any of the schools here are good/bad whatever. THe American Bartending School is nearby, i dont know how to tell if theyre any good or not, but i was planning on just going there. Any suggestions would be awesome. Thank you!
I've thought about going....do you think I should do it? I know there are a million websites where you can find that stuff out, because I looked up a couple places for a friend a few years ago. I just can't remember any names. So I guess I didn't help. Just search for "bartending school." Good luck.
hey im a bartender down in florida and for adivice's sake....you dont need school. most restaurants hire from within, so start off as a server or something and work your way up. as bad as it sounds, most clubs or bars will only hire very attractive females. but as long as you know your drinks, which can be done online, you can get a job their. peace and love adam
I second what DrRobert said. It's how I ended up bartending. I worked in a beer store attached to the bar and the manager told me they decided they wanted to train someone from the store to fill in occasionally. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I've never heard anyone in the business say anything good about bartending school. They just say it's a waste of money. It's not a bad thing, but don't expect it to open doors for you.
