    have you ever bartended?
    how do you find it?
i usually love it but after an 8 hr shift and having to deal with drunk fucking bastards
who stare at my tits and ass all night calling me sweet heart and then tell me that i'm offensive for telling him to tip me...i jokingly said how much to tip
this was a guy i spent all night talking with
i hate people and if it was possible.. i think i am a little more racist

as for you who have never bartended, how do you treat your bartenders?
and don't sugar coat it, if you treat bartenders like your servant than don't be afriad to say it
and don't feel like i'll hunt you down and stab you in the neck or anything

I do. :D I love it. But I have to agree, the tit and ass staring and sweetheart naming comes with the job and can be a little annoying.

Especially from the old fellas. :p

Nevermind, it's fun and I enjoy it. I'm also a waitress.

Anyway, have to go to work now. :D

I'm always really nice to bartenders so I can get free shots :)

I tip well too unless it's super packed and they blow me off.

    Yes.

    Typical middle-class-poverty non-sense job.

My Dad owns a couple of pubs, actually I grew up next door to one we owned, literally right next door, and I worked there for a while, it's good once you get to know the regulars. I couldn't work behind the bar at a club though, there's nothing fun about that.

It's okay. Depends on the crowd you're serving.

Don't think I'd wanna do it again.

I've done a lot of customer service work, so I always treat service workers well. Asshole customers can be annoying as hell, and when someone acts like an asshole I'm not very inclined to help them. Most people are like that, so I figure if I want to be served/helped, I play nice.

I bought a new bag of coffee beans earlier today, and asked the barista right out front that I wanted "whole beans". When he came back, after a minute or two, he asks me if I wanted them ground, or whole beans. Smart ass that I am, I told him that I had said right at the outset that I wanted "whole beans". I could have saved myself, and him, the time by simply saying "whole beans" again, but it's been my experience that most of the time they ask twice anyway, because they're so busy they forget, or didn't listen carefully in the first place.

But after giving him "the business", I was thinking,,"Is this guy gonna spit in my beans"?

I think it's best not to hassle people over dippy-shit stuff, but I sometimes catch myself doing it anyway. Another thing I get used to is that when you ask a waitress/waiter for milk, they almost always forget. And I HATE when a waiter/waitress comes up just as you've taken a bite, and asks,,"Is everything okay, sir?", as if the mouthful of food doesn't exist, only their need for attention/a tip.

Ah, that explains a lot. Good bartenders and strippers know how to talk to just about anybody.

Be happy that you have tits and ass worth staring at. Not every woman gets that. :)

I don't get it. What's wrong with bartending?

 I like the way you said "..and strippers.."

I'm sure every woman gets that behind the bar. But today I was doin' the waitress part to the job, and I got the nicest comment ever.

"She's lovely." Makes up for all the staring and pet names. :D

Never bar tended, but I've had enough bars cracking up as a patron to know I'd do well. Drunks only bother me when I'm not drinking and from what I understand most bars don't care if you drink as long as you perform your job duties.... so I'd be fine.

i loved bartending, it was probably my favorite job ever...i took it all lightly, they're just lonely drunks after all and it was amusing more than annoying.

Went to a local bar the other night. The guy was surprised at my age when he carded me. He was also surprised when I ordered and drank 3 belgian beers...
He helped me get rid of some guy who was trying to hit on me. He was well compensated.
I got out of there without engaging anyone in conversation but him. He did drop a hint at me though... Made sure to tell me he isn't married and has no kids.
I think I may stop back in when he's working, the place was slammin' for it being a Sunday night.

i've never been a bartender but i always tip well and treat them well also. i dont snap my fingers or yell to get their attention, i usually wait patiently and that makes them come to me before the obnoxious people. there are a few local bars i go to so i usually know the bartenders and they hook me up as well with free drinks and such. although i have been guilty of staring at their boobs and telling them how nice they are when i get drunk. its all in good fun though cuz i'm not a creepy old man. :p

If you are a guy the whole waiting patiently and quietly thing typically leaves you ignored, in my experience.

So I grab a table and make sure to chat up my waitress and drop hints about big tips. Usually gets the job done.

Edit: I also leave the big tip as long as my cup doesn't stayeth empty....
