I would love for another tour, but if Barlow feels the band is through.....it very well may be true. Rumor has it that the band is planning a show later in the year in the Bay Area comemorating 40 years and the 10 years since Jerry has passed, but perhaps they are indeed just rumors.

If indeed it is true, I am sad, but forever grateful for the 20 years of memories and a lifetime more of their sweet songs that rock my soul.

Melvin Seals suggested to me in an interview that JGB was done. Something about that decade mark, eh?
Guess we all need to find life after Dead.
However, the writer kind left the context of "NO MORE" rather open. Is this Barlow's opinion of all post Garcia Dead projects?
Does he have some inside info?

I'm not sure concerning the inside info, but its still a pretty strong statement from Barlow.

Oddly enough on a personal level, I would find a certain degree of poetic justice and that my 'live' experiences with the boys to have traveled full circle if the end were indeed to be true.

The first song I heard by them when I was 9 (or at least knew was by them) was Morning Dew. It was the 4/29/71 version and with the first note, a complete sonic bomb by Phil, I was instantaneously hooked - been my favorite band ever since. They played what I believe to be the finest rendition during the Brent era for my first show, I saw the last one Jerry sang before passing and I saw them encore* with it at what could be the last show they ever played in Atlanta last summer.

*incredible moment somewhat ruined by the Touch of Grey that followed

    peacelovebarefeet--

I know exactly how you feel. Sucks being born at the wrong time, huh?

Always got the tapes indeed though, and if you ever want to trade with another unlucky young'un I'll be around. :)

I hope it's not true, but after seeing Bob Weir & RatDog, they seem like a sufficient substitute.

a sufficiant subsitute? Now dont get me wrong- I love Bobby, but there will never be a substitute for the Grateful Dead. The Dead pulled it off ok, but having just 1 orginal member doesn't do them justice at all!

If the rumors are true, then that's ok wit me. Those guys have put in thier time. I think they should sit back and relax and enjoy the rest of their lives.

Although just 1 more show would be great! :p
