Barefoot Un-friendly States

At the risk of hijacking the other topic I was replying to, I decided to make this a new topic.

For all of you hippies out there who don't wear shoes, what do you think is the most barefoot un-friendly state? I would have to say FLORIDA

I've been to the Miami area twice and I could not set foot into any place without getting yelled at or reamed out. Bars, restaurants, k-mart, grocery stores, even McDonalds would not stand for bare feet. This totally shocked me because Miami is in a tropical climate. If you live in the tropics, why the hell wouldn't you want to go around barefoot??? My friend was with me the one trip. He's not a hippie and he was getting mad at me for not wearing shoes and getting into trouble everywhere I went. He finally made me buy a pair of flip-flops.

 

All sorts of nasty pollution in miami. Nobody wants to step in toxic waste.

 

Great question. In my mind, it is a true paradox; Satets that are hip to hippies, ie. Cali, Oregon, Colorodo, upstate NY, and maybe like Vermont,etc. are difficult to go barefoot in because these states tend to be hilly. It is difficult to walk around mountains and valleys with no shoes, whereas the most uncool state... (no offense intented), Indiana, FLorida, Alabama, it is conversley very easy to not have shoes on on flat ground...if the rednecks don't shoot ya down.

 

any state where the average person has enough common sense to appropriately dress themselves is barefoot unfriendly.

refusing to use common sense and keep your feet safe from injury has nothing to do with being a hippie, and is one of the primary reasons the average person considers hippies to be fucking morons whose ideas are not worth acknowledging.

i should probably add that i have no problem with going barefoot and i personally prefer not to wear shoes unless i have to. it just bothers me when people try to make an issue out of it. there are obviously reasons for wearing shoes, and if you go out of your way to make barefooting your great cause then i just think you're missing the point somewhere.

Just because someone doesn't wear shoes doesn't make them a moron. For your information, I haven't owned shoes in about 2 years. Not because I am trying to prove a point, I just don't see a need for them in my life. If you don't have shoes, your feet toughen up to the point where terrain or temperature extremes don't hurt them. There are people all around the world who have never owned shoes. Are they all morons? Your soft feet are weak and prone to injury therefore, you probably do need to buy shoes. Who is the moron? Obviously not the shoe companies who are making money off of you. Make sure to thank the child slaves who made your shoes.

I would have to agree with Glen Glen 100% I heard that half the people in Australia don't wear shoes. Apparently they don't look at you like a moron either. I hear that they just think "He likes to wear shoes, she doesn't like to wear shoes" simple as that. They don't judge you as a hippie or anything. Is this true Glen Glen?

Also, I love how Americans think that shoes are necessary for survival and they even try to do fund raisers to put shoes on kids feet in Africa, etc. Who says they even want shoes? There are countless tribes in the Amazon and New Guinea who live in the jungle in harsh environments completely naked. Are they morons? Or are they living the way our creator designed us to? Sorry for going on a tangent. It just gets me mad when someone takes an innocent question like this and turns it into a great debate on why we should all wear shoes.

I'm a hippie, I don't own shoes, (I don't support child slave labor) and I'm damn proud of it.
