Has anyone had any problems with soreness or blistering after barefooting alot in a short period of time? Today I went for a walk on a paved trail for about a mile and got a blister on my left foot, my feet are fairly tough though today was really hot and I think I may have burned it a little, It hurts quite a bit and I think I will have to at least wear the flipflops when I go off carpeted surfaces. The thing I don't get is I probably went a mile on a paved surface on sunday and I went for a 5 mile hike on monday and I was ok, I think the heat did it. Any tips?

Thoroughly clean the area with a medium soft clean brush and plenty of soap and water. Drench with Hydrogen peroxide and remove any dead skin using a new # 11 x-acto knife blade and/or nail clippers. Be careful not to pull on surrounding areas when doing this. Drench again with peroxide, then allow it to air dry while you sit/lay around for a bit. Apply polysporin/neomyacin (neosporin) ointment. Inspect the area adjacent to the wound (where a bandage's adhesive will lie) and ensure that is is very clean and dry and cover with a flexible fabric bandage.

You can continue to walk barefoot with the bandage in place, as the flexible fabric type will stay on and keep the wound clean. Keep a few bandages with you in case it comes loose or gets wet.

At night, remove the bandage and clean around the wound with a clean lint-free cloth (medical guaze works well), then drench/soak thoroughly with peroxide. Keep it in the open air during sleep and in the morning, re-apply the neosporin and bandage before walking around.

Until the wound heals, don't undertake an ambitious hikes and be even more aware of the areas in which you're walking. If it's really hot, you may consider some zorries while you're healing.
