Barefoot is Cool, Dudes!

  1. With temps in the 60s and low 70s, this is cool barefoot weather! Just watch them acorns, and rustle up those dry leaves! Happy Barefoot Autumn, y’all!

Love being barefoot - every occasion I can, but 'as time goes by' the pangs of arthritis remind one of that 'Winter is coming'.
Still somewhat enjoyable whilst in motion, the grip of reminder can be painful

I have you beat, we're already down to -4 C (24.8 Fah) here for the night time temps. Daytime barely tops +4 C (39.2 Fah). I'm looking at a frosty ground right now. It's gonna take some getting used to again, I'll tell you, after the reasonably good summer we had this year...

Hope you know about frost and bare feet. I overdid it once in the frost and had mild blisters. Because frost is actually frozen ice crystals, not snow, and has no insulation qualities!

Yeah, I've studied my limits. I can do a few minutes at a time, and suffer no damage from it. I always keep a path to my house clear, keep my house keys with me, and during extreme weather, I have a bucket of warm water waiting if I need to warm them up. I've gone down to -10 C (14 Fah) with full ice on the ground for a couple of minutes, and gotten away with it. It's all just a matter of keeping your eyes on the clock, and listening to your feet telling you when they don't like it anymore.

I haven't had any blisters so far, but I've experienced the tingly feeling you get when you overstay in the cold, and my soles once got pretty numb when I tried doing -13 C (8.6 Fah) a few years back. So based on this, I have a pretty good idea about my limits, that -10 C (14 Fah) being my limit now, after which I won't push it any further. And it's only a few minutes at a time, 5 at most. So far, so good. Nothing's been amputated thus far.

Oh how right you are! I’ve experienced that numbness already but got my feet warmed up in time. There weren’t any ill effects. I actually like walking barefoot on packed snow and ice. You must live in the northwest, I see the snow is already coming to that area. Predictions are for a cold, snowy winter for Pennsylvania this year. We’ll see! But I’ll be barefoot as much as possible regardless.

With all due respect, why would you subject yourself to such discomfort and possible injury?

IMHO, more of a male thing. Seen this so many times over the years guys tend to like to test their physical limits. Don't get me wrong, the ladies do to but not as commonly as males.

Examples? Look at professional contact sports such as American football and hockey, most, if not all are males. Military (combat soldiers, not just the US) mostly males - the Israeli military is probably the only exception but there military service is compulsory, not voluntary.

My statements are based on observations, not opinion. No doubt I will still be attacked by the PC crowd but they're mostly assh.oles anyway!

  16. As i said, NUCKIN’ FUTS, but then so is our president, so it’s officially normal. Except I did wear my minimal sneakers this morning—too many acorns!

anyone knows how wonderful is walking over frozen grass? because it's so awesome. Only take care because freezing can cause your feet to go numb and that's not the best. you can get hurt without even noticing

I now officially get to do this right away, if I want to, because it just snowed here last night.
