If so where did you go and did you get any reaction? The grocery store for me over the weekend. I think I noticed a few looks but received no comments.
Walmart, Lowes, pet store. Been wearing barefoot/soleless sandals I mentioned in a recent thread. One comment from a young Walmart employee as I was in self-checkout. She said she noticed I wasn't wearing shoes and did my feet hurt? I just shrugged and didn't answer as I initially thought she was going to make a scene. But that was the end of it.
Not been upto much exciting. Just went to the supermarket and later on in the day my usual daily dog walk to the park. No comments or reactions at all.
I’ve been out and about but not been as militant about it in shops this year, mainly as reactions have been heightened since the C word. I’ve noticed most times I get some kind of comment, whether ‘it’s like we’re in Australia’ or ‘why aren’t you wearing shoes’. I got questioned in front of a large queue in a B&M store the other day, guess a customer complained and the manager felt she had to be seen to do something…Said she was worried I’d cut my feet, not that there was anything to cut them on. I find that stuff tiring but still enjoying country walks, temperatures look good for a while yet
Just the usual around the home stuff, + whenever I go to a nearby playground to do pull-ups with the monkey bars. The winds have now shifted to blowing straight from the north, making the ambient air temperatures VERY chilly this far up north. So barefooting in most public places is not very rewarding anymore.
About 2 weeks ago, I went to a bar with lots of tall wooden tables a few feet away from the bar. I was by myself, I got a beer at the bar then sat on a bar stool at one of those tall wooden tables. I was wearing flip-flops, and after a few minutes into my first beer, I decided I'd kick off the flip flops. Once they hit the floor, I rested my bare feet on the bar toward the bottom of the stool. After I finished my beer,I walked barefoot up to the bar, and ordered another beer. Once I got my beer, I walked back to my bar stool and remained barefoot until I was ready to go up to settle the bar tab and leave. Nobody commented, I was comfortable, and mmmm, beer I should do that more often!
I have three weeks off and thought it would be a good idea to waive footwear for the whole time and enjoy Indian summer on my bare paws. First week I did run a lot of errands, for example the annual preventive medical checkups. My dentist gave a positive comment and said we all should go barefoot more often by health reasons. My dermatologist (scan for skin cancer prevention) also gave a benevolent comment. Now I'm staying with my bf and we make use off his off days to stroll along the dutch coast with my campervan. The first days were sunny, but now it got chilly and rainy, but it's still fun to go barefoot. Always get some looks when we are in a city and I walk right through the puddles. But no bad comments or denial of access as yet. Yesterday when at a shop the assistant said "we're selling shoes too" with a smile, I answered "I don't need them" and all was fine. The advantage of the bad weather you don't get your feet as filthy as when it's dry.
I started doing my two hour volunteer cat rescue shift at a big pet store, barefoot. I'm in a glass front room on display along with a bunch of cats, talk to customers who have questions, etc. So far, no issues or comments either way. Have not yet screwed up the courage to go barefoot at one of our all day adoption events though.
Today it was Wal-Mart and Target but I haven't worn a pair of shoes since early March. I work for open minded self-employed owners so I don't need to wear shoes to work either. I go about 6 months out of every year barefoot belive it or not. I would go all year but it gets quite cold in the winter months. I been doing this now for like over 20 years.
I got harassed in Walmart tonight. Self-checkout attendant once again. I think my soleless beach sandals gave her momentary pause. She observed me for a bit before deciding I was essentially barefoot. When I realized she was staring at me, I knew she was going to say something. Older white woman. EVERY SINGLE TIME I've been hassled in a store it's been an older white woman. I'm a 50 something white male, not that it should matter. I wish I could keep my wits about me and respond better. I always get flustered no matter how prepared I think I am. Just my introverted personality. It happens any time I get put on the spot. She said I needed to put something on my feet, I said these are beach sandals, are you the shoe police? Probably shouldn't have said that. Pretty sure she went to get a manager, leaving her post unmanned, but she returned alone and again said I needed to put something on my feet, I said I don't have anything else (should have just ignored her). At that point she went away again and got security, a twenty something young lady. They watched me until I was done checking out. I didn't realize the security girl was there until I turned around to leave. Clerk said "you need to wear shoes next time", I said "thanks", security girl said "have a nice evening", I said "you too" and that was the end of it.
I never had trouble in Walmart being barefoot I get some people asking me where are my shoes. But some of the employees wish they could work barefoot I have had some employees tell me that . Most of the employees know who I am I’m barefoot rick . I even go to Costco barefoot and know problem I do notice that my bare feet get super black at Costco then at Walmart
