Yesterday was 99 deg and today its 97.....it's ok actually but I wouldn't just stand around on blacktop either.
(ahem) I strolled barefoot on pavement hot; my instep stung; my heels did not; I was grateful for some shade because, without it, I would have brayed: GODD#@N MOTHER F%*ING HOT!
I'm still okay with pavement at 30C. Only a few surfaces get really too hot at that temperature, took a trip on a fishing boat once and the metal deckplates were really hot, had to walk quickly from shady spot to shady spot. But that same day I only came across one *very* dark black patch of pavement that I'd call hot, and still quite bearable, pleasant in fact. Only time in my climate I found regular pavement uncomfortably hot was some years ago when we had record-breaking temperatures in the upper 30's and even broke 40 (only time in my life that's happened here!)... But then I love heat, maybe that makes a difference also how my soles respond to it too? Also not sure if the sun's strength is the same at all latitudes, even when air temperature is the same?
