Today I discovered a small patch where no hair covers my scalp It seems as though the clumping has just left it out in the open. Tonight after showering I tried ripping apart a couple of the clumps around that area, although I don't think it has helped much. It has always been the problem area on my scalp from the beginning. Any remedies? I'm thinking of putting a bead over some of the hair so they form over that spot but I'm not sure.. trying not to interfere too much. So my question is.. do you think I should indeed put a bead and force the hair to cover this area? Or let it be? Maybe I'm making a big deal out of nothing but I do not like feeling my scalp like this. Almost 3 months in by the way, natural freeform method.
I have one basically in the exact same place (Im about a month and a half in, mixture of tnr and neglect) It might be where the matted hair around it isn't falling over that area, like the way they've just naturally fallen just happened to not cover that part, that's what it looks like from the picture, and its possible that when they thicken up and mature that the bald area will become covered, thats what I'm telling myself anyway. I make no sense probably
It's just the way your hair is dreading. I suggest to seriously not look at it so much if you're doing neglect and you care that much about it. It's not a bald spot, it's just the way your hair is falling right now and it will change a lot.
I have one too, same part of my head an my dreads are nearly 4. I dont think about it. Its just the way your hair has parted and sits
Hi foresting, I have mature dreads (6 years) and what you're describing is completely natural and unavoidable. The "bald" spot is a result of the way your hair naturally swirls. I use wool art locs to fill in my thinner areas...gives the look of more volume and texture.
Mine are twist and rip and I had a couple of scalpy looking bits when they were around 4 months that I really hated, they've filled out now a bit (nearly 6 months) and generally all my scalp is covered at the back, so it might be worth waiting to see if it corrects itself. But, I have 80 quite thin dreads, I think you're more likely to get gaps with thick ones, and I've seen a lot of people with mature neglect dreads that still have exposed areas of scalp. I guess it's down to you how much it bothers you - if you really can't deal with it I think all you could do would be comb out the area and resection it, then put the dreads back in with a starter method, losing 3 months progress. But I would advise waiting another couple of months at least first because specially now you've separated a few things may even themselves out.
Thankyou all for the feedback! I made a decision and decided to let it be, however I am going to keep watch on the sections. <3
