i got a friend who play bagpipe. all i know is that they cost like hell, but then again his sound realy cool
I play bagpipes and have for about two years now. I think the easiest way of learning to play the pipes is to find someone who can instruct you, specifically a Pipe Major or a pipes and drums. The technique needed to play the pipes is one that is not erribly easy to learn by oneself and is easy to learn things the wrong way and develop improper playing styles. I assume you're talking about the Highland bagpipes, cause there are all sorts of bagpipes. Bagpipes are known all around the world in many different countries, Scotland being the most popular one. A good set of Highland Great Pipes will run about $1000 depending on the maker and the retailer. If you want good bagpipes avoid anything that say "made in Pakistan" they're cheap junk and aren't worth buying. I'm not sure why Pakistanis make bagpipes, but they do, and not very well. I guess I mean Highland bagpipes. The Irish and the Scottish play the same bagpipes, I assume, and I want to learn Irish music. I have heard that it is much easier to learn with an instructer. Works for me, because I took guitar lessons for two years and that worked well for me. Some people can teach theirselves, I'm just not one of them. My older brother has a good friend who plays the bagpipes, so I'm going to ask him if he knows anyone who instructs. Thanks for the link and the advice. I'll check it out.
how much do you want to spend?
