Just Back From The Hospital......Spent 6 Hours There After Taking A Medication I Was Prescribed Months Ago For Nerve Pain.....( Lypralin)...Never Took Any Until Last Night..... And To Say I Had An Adverse Reaction Would An "Understatement".......The More I Fought The Reaction.......The Deeper I Went Into A "Rage".......Somehow Got To Hospital And The Nurses Said They Had Seen It All Before. The Medication Is Primarily Used To Treat Epilepsy But Is Also Used To Treat Pain From Nerve Damage Which I Sustained Months Ago During A Bad Attack Of Shingles. I Should Have Known Better After Reading A Front Page Article In The Sydney Morning Herald Under The Headline.......WHY IS THIS DANGEROUS DRUG STILL BEING PRESCRIBED......??? Sorry If I "Flew Off The Handle" Last Night.......Nurses Told Me I Had A Very Bad Reaction. I Don't Know How Some Of You Can Take Drugs Without Knowing For Sure What Is Going To Happen. Once Again I'm Sorry If I Got Stuck Into People Last Night.......I Can Assure You It Won't Happen Again...... The Tablets Are Now In The Bin At The Hospital Cheers Glen.
Adding insult to injury, the neurologists have more or less figured out to do away with chronic pain without all the insane chemical experiments. It will likely be years before the public benefits, but there is no way to overstate what it will mean for the world. Hope you get some decent sleep and at least a little bit of relief.
The Unopened Box Was Sitting In The Top Draw Of My Computer Desk......My Nerve Pain Flared..... So I Thought Why Not.....Still A Bit Crook.....Had Breakfast And Threw It Up A Few Minutes Later. Just Drinking Water.....It Seems To Be OK But I'm Still Walking Around Carrying A Bucket. Cheers Glen.
Thank You.....Still Far From Good And I Guess I Shouldn't Have Driven Myself To The Hospital..... I Rang Them To Say I Was Coming In.....BUT.... In Hindsight I Should Have Rung An Ambulance. Iv'e Had Ambulance Emergency Cover For Over 30 Years And Never Used It.......Driving In The State I Was In Was Just Stupid. Cheers Glen.
That drug is called Lyrica in the USA. I've taken it. Hubby's taken it. Luckily, we never had a bad reaction. We discontinued it because of the cost. He went back to Gabapentin for his diabetic nerve pain.
When It Was First Prescribed I Did What I Always Do When A Medication Is New To Me......I Googled The Company That Markets It.......And It Had A Lists Of Possible Side Effects "As Long As Your Arm". Iv'e Never Had A Reaction To Any Drug Before.......Guess You And Hubby Were Lucky. Cheers Glen.
If you flew off the handle I didn't notice. You've always been nice to me and for that I thank you. I'm glad to hear you're ok! As for taking drugs and not knowing what will happen, I think you may have a point!
Thank You......But What It Has Opened My Eyes To Is The Risk People Who Attend "Raves And Festivals" And Then Buy A Tablet From An Unknown Person Take. Cheers Glen.
I take lyrica every day for my PD nerve pain and diabetic neuropathy and I have no issues but bad side effects are possible in some people and unfortunately it seems Glen was one of those. Cheers Pall
