Bad language - best to avoid it.

I have noticed some young people in this forum use very bad language in their posts.

Psychologists well know that individuals who use bad language in public are generally unpopular and disliked by their peers, and they feel insecure and weak.


The fact that the culture is coarse does not change the dynamic, nor is it an excuse - just because some moronic rapper "F's" his way to success does not mean you will. In fact you won't.

Those who are socially inept and intellectually challenged use dirty language in part to isolate themselves so they can pretend to be "different" and "misunderstood" and "criminal". They are mostly tiny little boys crying inside who have to shock others just to draw attention to themselves - they know no one cares what they have to say.

 

Hahaa...ok, then, you lame-ass fuck ... and I say this as a female college student.

Zanman, I don't think it's especially mature of you to've posted your message in the first place. You should put more energy into your own advancement as a human being and stop harshing people for not talking the way you think they should.

 

I couldn't care less how people talk, although I avoid foul-mouthed persons.

I am pointing out a simple psychological fact - that the foul-mouthed are socially isolated.

Use bad language and many, but not all, will avoid you. Those who don't avoid you will be in the same anti-social situation you are, and so your "friends" will be "low lifes" who can't get a job and never get anywhere in life ... It is why the poor and prisoners are continually cussing. They can't express themselves in language.

So rather than hurling epithets perhaps you could discuss the fact that foul-mouthed people are unpopular.

Its a freedom of speech forum like all the rest. So unless you can find a post that has excessive swearing in it and post the link, OR you become the moderator of this forum (heaven forbidd) please just leave us and our fowl mouths alone. Thank you and goodday.

You know, people are capable of changing the way they behave around certain groups of people based on the fundamental attribution error. You can't just assume that anyone who curses is a low-life and is thus not capable of getting job based on external observations alone.

My grandfather cursed like a sailor (probably because he was in the Navy). Regardless, he was very well-liked in his neighborhood & incredibly loved in my family based on his spiritful & humourous personality...not on the fact that he cursed all the time.

I repeat, I DON"T CARE HOW FILTHY YOUR LANGUAGE IS! I couldn't care less how you and your "friends" talk to one another.

I am pointing out than when you degenerate into filthy language you indicate you are socially inept! You also are perceived to have a lower IQ than you may in actuality have. These are not my views I am simply passing on what psychologists and doctors already know.

I made this post for the more intelligent and reflective young people who might read this and think about the language they use.

 

I use bad language, and Im not a kid, either. sometimes it makes a person more colourful. nothing wrong with that.

 

If you DONT CARE, then WHY did you post this crap?
You must care about the topic in some way?

 

I'll keep that in mind the next time I interact with my classmates & professors because, after all, you said that I am socially inept and yet you don't even know who I am.

it's all language... and so, are people with southern accents not smart enough because they don't appeal to the way you speak? and what about people who speak foreign languages... are they also somehow not above the standard?

There have been many studies on the social interaction of young people, many of which are funded by beer and cigarette companies, and clothing manufacturers.

They know exactly how you live, what TV programs you watch, what you listen to, your favorite films/stars etc., what you eat, what turns you on and what turns you off, and what you are afraid of. They then turn around and sell it back to you because they know that as a young person you are insecure and are desperate to have your opinions reinforced. (It is why there are cliques at school and why being a “loner” is about the worst thing that can happen to you. )

The corporations know exactly what to sell you and when and how. They dictate the color and style you will wear six months from now and then find teenage icons like Spears and Aguilera and Lavigne to sell the new styles to you. They wear ‘em (for a huge fee) and then a month or two later you’re wearing it too!

Believe me, you are known inside and out, and your closet reflects it, your music reflects it, I won’t go on.

You are completely manipulated by large corporations. You do not think for yourself and you do not have any choice!

So don’t talk to me about psychology … I know something about this area.

 

i think someone is generalizing here... and i'm sure most people here on these forums don't listen to avril and britney... should this be somewhere else besides the music forum?

 

on the other hand, one could say that those who dislike people using foul language are disliked by their peers because they are found to be stuck up and think that they are superior those that do not think in the same manner than they do.

These people often take offense by the use of language that they feel is foul because they beleive that they are morally superior. They choose to isolate themselves from people who use such language because they feel they are above them, and think that if they are seen socializing with one who cusses may make them look bad to other who are just as stuck up as they are.

These people feel as if the beleifs they hold are normal and anyone that doesnt share them are worthless bags of skin. Unfortunately, they dont know that nobody cares about what they have to say.
