no one here has lol'd some of you l'dol lol'd translates to ''laugh out louded'' i dont know of any other examples in english where it is ok to hop the apostrophe to a different spot... it makes no sense
i think lol has basically become its own standalone word, dropping the acronym aspect. i force myself to think that because internet grammar is bad enough without having to see laugh out louded all the time. it kind of reminds me of VIN number.
or an ATM machine. I detest bad internet grammar....people who write "so im seein this girl 4 a few munths n things r goin gr8" should be hung drawn quartered shot stabbed poisoned beheaded drowned and burnt alive......
Hey I've lol'd before... I have come to adopt the use of 'lol' generically to indicate a light, humorous disposition. Internet acronyms don't seem to be subject to the normal rules of grammar, it's apparently about more efficient communication 4 teh hip young folk, and 2 pissing off conventional farts like us...lol Still bet I bet I can lol-er than you. :smoking:
i have always been accused of bad gramma by idiots on the internet who take pop shots at me before they even know why my gramma is what it is. 15 years ago i lost the pointer finger on my left hand, so i had to learn to type on a keyboard all over again, and now because of severe ostioarthritis in that hand i can only type with the middle finger on my left hand now (its known as hen pecking) so i stopped using CAPS and hyphens in all my online texting because it just makes it so much harder for me. i also abbreviate some words like m8 (mate) and i often use LOL and ROFL and PMSL because everyone else does. if i hand write a letter, or i type an official type of document i will use caps and hyphenate my text when required. if it offends some people then i dont (ooops don't) care, some people need to get over it and move on.
"Ask not what your lulz can do for you, but what you can do for your lulz." - John F. Kennedy "We have nothing to fear, but Lulz itself" - Franklin D. Roosevelt
I am guilty of using internet acronyms like lol ( i must get out of this terrible habbit) Whats worse is the people who say lol instead of laughing or OMG instead Oh My God, should be penelties for these sort of things. ps. I know my grammar/spelling is shocking
not as bad as some. (sorry but i couldn't resist the corrections in red text, just being a smart ass ) but seriously, this is a forum, and i dont see any problem with Acronyms, but how would you penalize those who do use Acronyms ??? (do we get put in prison) what i do hate is people who type up really long sentences or paragraphs and do not punctuate any of it, so every single word is just flowing on without any comma's or full stops, and it makes it very difficult to understand what they are saying.
I h8it wen ppl r 2 lzy 2 spell out wordz, n think its kewl 2 spell wordz n wayz dat makes it hard 2 read. Wat is rong wit deez peeps?
It's like being back at school, the dreaded red pen all over my work. Unsatisfactory country girl. See me after class country girl Oh no. Do I ramble on and not punctuate aswell? ooops Yes, for people who say the acronym in speach, instead of the actual words.
yer datz juz been layzee seriously, my pet peeve in forums is when someone comes into a thread and types "sup" or "homies"
So Please Enlighten Us Mr GAP, What Is Your Opinion Of Those Who Are Addicted To CAPS....?? Cheers Glen.
