i started some dreds and wondering if backcombing turns out better when you do it with wet hair, dry, or in between?

wet hairs far easier to dammage
not sure why that is someone explained it i think the way the lil scaly like cells along the shaft stand out when wet

i washed my hair and then dried it thoroughly before any backcombing was done. i think that helped to make it more frizzy

Hmm...hair does seem to tangle better when a little damp...but somehow the thought of backcombing damp hair seems a bit scary.

I washed my hair and dried it well before backcombing my dreads.

Yup, I did the same as everyone, I washed, dug out a very old hair dryer and dried it. I think when the dreads are formed and you want to do maintenance, it's easier/better when wet. But dread originally when dry... It seems that it would be painful to do wet.

i always here palmrolling is most e the hairs most easily dammaged so its a trade off
if i were ever to backcomb (and no im not saying i ever would) i think id do it dry maybe just use a lil sea salt not to dampen it really just a very fine mist to make it more workavble since damp hairs lil more clingy anyway

    be a rebel, go wet.

    i did mine dry.
all i think it matters is that dry hair knots easier than slippery wet hair.
making dry hair easier to work with.

what i did was wash before, blowdry, braid, straightened the braids, took them out and blowdried again, my hair was freaken huge, never knew i had this much hair, cause its usually very straight and thin.

my dreads were always easier to pull apart wet, but palmrolling and twisting really worked better when it was totally dry. spray just a tad of sea salt water when wet and then your locks will dry frizzy and lock up a little better.

dry for sure. ive backcombed a few sets of locks and im sure it would be hard to do dry.
you also want it as frizzy as possible.
