Hey! I hope everyone had fun. I didn't get to meet up with anyone or see any of the bands I really wanted to see because my boyfriend is an asshole, but I did get to see about 10 minutes of Bob Dylan and I got a nice pita. :) It wasn't the same as last year, though. The staff were kind of Nazis about things. But the cops were nice and the weather was okay...for a day at least... :) I almost drowned.
I wish I could have met up with everyone. Thanks so much, Marc, for the ticket. :) You're my hero.

i just got in from bonnaroo too. We ended up leaving after trey finished his last set.
i had a good time , but for me, the bad parts kind of outweighed the good parts.. well... maybe its more that the bad parts tainted the good parts to such a degree that they were not good enough to overshadow the bad ones.
The trash situation was utterly REdiculous. there werent nearly enough trash receptacles for the ammount of people there and they didn't hand out trash bags at the gate like they said they were going to. so there was trash piled up everywhere. so, not only did we have to wade through the mud, but we had to wade through trash as well, which made the otherwise not so bad mud a nasty affair.
I met some awesome people though , i think that The Dead brought a good number of kind folks alogn with them wich really brought a sweet tone to the festival.

alright hope everyone got back safely :)

i went there not really knowing what to expect or what to bring to prepare myself for 3 days of camping...but i scraped by on little money and i can say i had a life-changing experience for sure. i realized how much more it's about socializing and meeting people and having a damn good time, and that the bands are a totally different thing seperate from that. you go to the stage where a band you like is playing and end up meeting like 10 different people who want to "share". a lot of people were complaining about the mud and the heat...but what is a festival without rain, mud, and lots and lots of sun. i don't know, roughing it out for a few days never hurt anyone. very laid back...vacationland...ahhh...i've never seen so many beautiful girls in one place.

i did have a great time but there were a lot of assholes to be found near our camp site. and the potties near our camp didnt get cleaned the last two days due to the mud that smelled like shit...........
we waited 5 hours in the raind to be up-front for the dead and it was definately worth it..........they were fucking PERFECT.
we may go again next year but there will have to some changes, like clean vibes actually needs to CLEAN!!

so....was there still a meet-up at the fountain as planned?

me being the dork that i am chose to remain illusive and not show up......plus....i wanted to get a good spot for los lonely boys.....
instantly i knew there were way more people there this year than last and then when i got back i was reading a story from cnn saying there were more than 150,000 people there....last year there were around 80,000 people there.....
i had a great time all in all and i would agree with you funky....the dead were perfect.....i also enjoyed string cheese's set as well.....i look back at it all and wish i could clone myself and go see all of the bands i missed.....

Don't blame Clean Vibes. People need not to be shitty and clean up their own trash. I don't care how fucked up you get, it's not that hard to find a trash can. I'm actually pretty angry that the vast majority of the crowd was so disrespectful of the land.

or maybe people shouldnt just drop there trash where ever they want to.

my boyfriend won the first prize for the recycling thing because he went around and picked up other peoples crap. 22 bags he got.

The event seems to be deteriorating each year, maybe even each day. I mean, hell, on Sunday they actually told me that I couldn't bring my hoops into Centeroo because they were weapons. Luckily I was able to get them back after one lady ripped them off of my arm and walked off, and then to get them back in over the fence. The crowd is changing... and not necessarily for the better. I shouldn't have to be subjected to men in pickup trucks telling me to show them some skin on my way to brush my teeth in the morning. People need to learn to be more respectful of each other, of the land, and of themselves.

heres the deal i cleaned up my own mess and i even cleaned some stuff my neighbors didnt clean but every time i saw clean vibes they were NOT cleaning. i understand they did clean and that it was hard to clean after other people trashed the place and i know they probly have it cleaned by now but they did not even offer me garbage bags on the way in, the only thing clean vibes offered me on the way in
    was HEADIES!!

bonnaroo...hmm. well, it was my first time and i don't know what the other years were like, but i had some complaints. the music was great, and i think if the festival was better organized, i'd have seen more of it and liked it more. i got lost all the time (the fungus/pot didn't help ;)) and the trash/toilets/water situations sucked. there's a big christian music festival (50,000+ people) that, although the christian contemporary rock sucks, really outdid bonnaroo in terms of organization. it's a terrible shame that 2 people dehydrated, and I partially blame the number and locations of the water stations.
but enough bitching. overall, i had fun. sci, praxis, mmw, wilco (who surprisingly rocked the psychedelic realm), umphrey's, moe...everyone rocked. i wish i could've met the forums people, but i didn't see the fountain until about 4:00 friday. i danced a lot, got a lot of sun, met tons of kynd heads, and tripped balls. overall, that makes for a good weekend. still, i think next year, i'll probably go to a smaller festival or 2 instead of bonnaroo.

Bonnaroo was awesome because you were free to walk around and smoke pot. I really enjoyed that. I got to see alot of good music! I was kind of mad at Dave because he was suppose to play till 12 and he stopped playing at 11... The Dead were awesome =)
The downfall was the mud which made me miss trey.... =( It also kind of sucked because this year there wasn't alot of acid there. =(

being able to walk around and smoke herb wasnt enough to make bonnaroo awesome and theres always lots of acid at those kinds of shows.

the more i think about it the more disgusting all the filth was. all the trash and human fecal smell wafting through the air as you trudge through ankle deep muck is enough to taint the good aspects of the festival. all that trash is just a real downer for me.

hmm... it was my first bonnaroo.. and I'm trying not to let it be my last. The music was awesome. It was absolutely amazing to see a little of that many bands, and for the most part every band rocked! HOWEVER... we had a couple terms for the trip.. 1. bonnaPOO.. someone nasty mofo decided that they couldn't make it to the port-a-potties.. and decided to stop and instead take a crap in my tent!!! yeah...they then put my sleeping bag on top of it and left my tent unzipped. NOT TO MENTION the fact that they wiped their butt with my shirt!..ahh.. so when i rerturned from seeing a few shows.. my tent is flooded.. my clothes are wet and theres a HUGE pile of crap in my tent.

so much for good people and good vibes.
    2. bonnaBOO for the general lack of organization. It was so easy to get lost. They didn't have enough trash cans or trash bags. And after it poured on Sat., they didn't seem to try and put anything over the mud. What about hay? Wouldn't that have been an easy answer?
ahh..i was generally dissapointed with bonnaroo, and my friends tell me it wasn't always like that. It defently seemed that only half the people were there for the music. and the others just wanted to get as messed up as possible. I couldn't believe how much trash people just threw on the ground !
oh well.. better luck next year. though i think im through with festivals in the south.

Kaya, sorry to hear about the poo at roo. Don't let that get you down about fests in the south. It's a roo thing. I don't know too many people that didn't have problems with it. They just want your money and its not about the music. I'm off to Wakarusa Thursday, and the vibe is all music. Also about 120,000 less people.

    Bob
