have any of you ever used a babysitter?? i don't personally know anyone who can babysit for me. I am interested in finding a babysitter for one night a week to get some time to myself or time with the hubby. How do you go about finding one??

i babysit all the time, the parents usually get my number from someone they know who has had me babysit for them...
so just ask some of your friends who also have kids, they'll probably know of someone good

Got any community bulliten boards?? Like say at the health food store or school?? Look for someone offering sitting service or post a "sitter wanted" notice. Just make sure to check references, at least a couple.

Our teenage daughters did this and are making bank this summer.

Our church has a "parents night out" once a month and the teenaged members help watch the kids inside the church, with adult supervision of course. It's a great deal ($25 for two kids for 5 hrs.).

The cheerleaders at our local high school babysat kids in the community once a month in the gymnasium for the same cost....our kids had a blast with the cheerleaders.

Local daycares sometimes provide a "parents night out" -- check your local daycares.

The realtor who sold us our house was a good source, as she knew all the families in our neighborhood and the girls who could babysit.

Local YMCA's "have parents night out" too.

    Good luck!

I guess I am just reallly reallly lucky to have 3 sets of grandparents and a cousin with kids and a friend nearby and a lot of willing people who offer to help. I always offer to pay people but rarely do they ever want to take my money. They jsut do it from their hearts to give us a break. Some I trade babysitting with so we all save money.
