Hey anyone heard of the libertines side project Babyshambles? I just listened to them at my local record store. I think they're definately pretty trippy and in a good way. Fuck Forever, Killamangiro, and Pipedown are my favorite tunes by them. They Rule
The Libertines disbanded a while ago, so actually, it's not a side project. I have the Libertines but I've yet to check Babyshambles out. The singer, Dougerty kinda disgusts me. He's done drugs so much that the tip of his fingertips are cracked and black. I don't know, I'll get around to them eventually, but the Libertines never really blew me away. I dunno, I guess they're doing a lot better in the UK
I used to really like the Libertines, still do to an extent...Got the babyshambles album a couple of weeks ago , very dissapointed. Pete Doherty is fantastically talented musician and some would say poet but the drugs really are just totally destroying all of that now. It's such a tragic waste, I don't feel disgusted I feel sad. It's squandered potential... What disgusts me more is the UK tabloids printing endless stories about the guy...Does anyone care? There are thousands of other crack/smack addicts in London you can take the piss out of but just because Pete was in the Libertines and most people know him he's an easy target and selling point...The sad fact is that when the papers print headlines such as "JUNKIE-LOSER Pete SMACKS journalist" and have photos of Pete looking a total mess most readers will by it... THAT is the really disgusting thing along with the squandered potential and damage to the music. Really hope the guy sorts it out and makes amends but i can't see it happening. He'll be dead in a few years...The guy feels he can't be himself , write music or perform without drugs. It's very sad.
Babyshambles isn't a Libertines-sideproject, it's Pete Doherty's "new project". As Peterness already said, it's tragic how drugs are destroying Doherty's talents. I've never been a great fan of Pete Doherty, but I do see he's born with a great talent he's kind of wasting at this point though!
I liked the Libertines. Dunno why but I kinda like their music more now than I did when the actually existed. Guess its grown on me. As for Babyshambles I like some of their songs but dislike just as many. Doubt they'll be around too long though cos i got a feelin Dohertys goin to self destruct in the not so distant future.
i actually like some songs of the libertines. they all sound a bit weird, but some of them are still nice. i haven´t listened the libertines yet so i don´t know how much worse or better the babyshambles are but i agree that doherty is fucked up. i hope he will find i way to get out of it.
yea yea, they is coo...i like the lead singer despite his drug problems..who the fukkkk cares. he is actually quite brilliant ( poetically atleast..) but yea, i guess he's to trash that shite with all the braincells hes burning up daily... i love "fuck forevor" that is deff my favourite song yet.
I'm a huge Libertines fan, and of course I also bought the Babyshambles album Down in Albion. I wasn't sure about what I had to expect, because of Pete's problems. But even despite the mess he's in, he's managed to make a great album. Of course, it's not the same as The Libertines. There was just something magical between Pete and Carl Barat, it's impossible to create that same atmosphere. But still, Pete has created a sound of his own. Down in Albion contains so many great songs. (my favourites are 32nd of december, A rebours, Loyalty song, Fuck Forever and of course the beautiful Albion). I hope Pete will sort himself out, because he's a good person and he's an enormous talent.
