I ordered a moby sling before my daughter was born and now I am using it constantly. I just wanted to talk about how much I love wearing my baby! It's so great. It just seems like we get kind of hot and sweaty after awhile. Any suggestions on that? I also would like to make my own sling as well as use this one. I think it's just the type of hold that she has to be in with this sling b/c she is still so little. When I go out in public with her everyone says "They didn't have those when I had my kids." I just tell them that slings have been around since the beginning of time and that I ordered mine from the internet. It's amazing how many people think these are a new invention. Does anyone have any patterns for making slings?

I miss wearing my kids, they're bigger now. It is funny how people in so-called "developed" countries think this is some new invention. Gee, go to Central America, Africa, anywhere with an older culture and they're wearing their babies. I made a sling when my youngest was little with a pattern off the internet but can't recall the site, just try googling "free baby sling pattern" till you hit something, I'm pretty sure that's how I found mine.

I love wearing Moire. Friends and family say that I'm spoiling her, but at the same time, no one can deny that our little girl is the most happy, social, and independent baby for her age that they've ever seen. And I attribute a lot of that to the fact that she is a sling baby.

We just gave away our Nojo, as it didn't fit anymore. We're now getting a Maya wrap for a plus size momma, so we can be more comfortable when we sling.

On a side note, South Africa's baby shops have an extremely hard time selling strollers. Why? Because why would someone buy a bulky contraption when a piece of fabric does the job so much easier? :D

I miss wearing my babies too. [IMG]

When my oldest was a baby, we were always wearing him, he loved it. I'd wear him during the day, sometimes all day long unless he started squirming like he'd had enough, and then when my husband came home from work, and he'd wear him! People were forever telling us we were going to spoil him. Yeah, whatever.

I remember when the twins were newborns, I'd wear them both on me at the same time...I had two carriers and I'd strap them on so that they were kind of off to the side of me so that I could fit them both. Didn't last for too long, I'm not very big, and it was tough wearing them both at the same time. Talk about a back killer. That's when hubby would wear one and I'd wear the other. But most of the time, I'd sit with them both, one in each arm, in the rocking chair and just rock, rock, rock. They loved that. Heck, they still do, except not at the same time. ;)

*sniffles* Ahhh, feeling really nostalgic now.

I have a maya wrap too. I wear Manny in it all the time... around the house doing housework, in the city shopping, walking down the street to see friends or family. There is also about 2 feet of snow on the ground, so the stroller wouldn't work so well. lol.

Manny also gets sweaty after awhile... so I make sure that when we are going to be slinging that we are both wearing lighter clothes. I wear a thinner tank top, he wears a onesie... then I wear a big cardigan over top which I can wrap around him if he gets cool. (big winter jacket, toques for both of us and a scarf for me are also worn we were are going outside!)

Love babywearing!!! Yay!! So glad to see more and more of these threads popping up here. I also have experience in all types of carriers if anyone has any questions, I will try to help. I also have some asian style carriers (mei ties) for sale on my etsy page :) Check it out from time to time, I'll be adding more shortly. http://lenamarina.etsy.com/

I recommend www.thebabywearer.com for anything related to babywearing. They have an extensive list of DYI links as well. Also, www.mamatoto.org and www.rebozoway.org are very helpful and informational.
