How do you get it? What do you eat? I am lacking in this department and I really need to get with it. Do you think vitamins alone are good enough for the majority of the time? Actually my grandmother is suffering from this horrible horrible condition and it is from a lack of vitamin b12. So I am extremely concerned about it. One other thing. I need your help. Could you guys throw me some names of slaughterhouse products to stay away from, such as gelatin? Im a little ignorant as to what to avoid. So any help would be so much apprechiated. Im still pretty new to this. Luvin' you all
b12 generates itself in you. the important thing is that if you go healthy (also vegan), you must go all the way. if you consume alcohol, it is really bad for your b12 - the vitamin gets into cells much less. also try to find and eat some naturally grown grains, the vitamin generates in unindustrilised land too (some certain bacteria makes it, it also lives inside you). i drink soymilk with b12 in it, but i don't know if i should, because i've heard that if you use these b group vitamin supplements, your body stops generating them and that is not good. search the google on this maybe. this very contradictory theme - some vegans say they never knew about b12 and lived uber-healthy to their olds, yet some non-vegs shout about vegans dying because of lack of b12. i dunno. i trust everything will turn out fine without it. i believe in my body. yet i still use that soymilk dunno. Here is a nice list of animal products.
The best way to ensure that you are getting adequate B12 is to take a sublingual (let it disolve under your tongue) tablet. Vegan sublingual B-12 Dots are available at most supermarkets, and they are very reasonably priced.
yet i'd like you to note what I said about supplement - it can make your body stop making it's own b12. you do not want that!
I would STRONGLY urge you to purchase and read "Becoming Vegan." Your continued good health may depend on it.
