    Last march I met an Australian stereotype and he was extremely rude to me. He asked me for directions, I told him that I had no time (I am a businessman, always busy, always in a hurry) and he looked at me with a really mean and degrading look.

    No, Australians are definately not nice people.

    Yours, Almond P. Brookewater.

    Auzies are the friendliest people on earth...rough (Becoase of the landscape and penal colony background), but friendly.
    for example;
    1. when our car broke down in the outback, there were imidiatly 3 cars stopping to help you out...

    2. They wish every one they come across a G'day... and automaticly call you Mate...how great is that!?

    Peace dudes and Mates

    Its sad that you had a negitive experience of an "Aussie."..though I think it even more sad that you have made such a blanket statement about all Australian People. It you took the time you would come to the realisation that Australia has her fair share of wonderful, beautiful, caring and understanding people...just as much as she has her share of utter dick heads...no different from any other country in the world friend.

    Its called "human nature". Not to mention, did you put yourself in the shoes of the person asking the directions, as to how you came across to them!?

    Not wise to make such judgements upon people, regardless of who they be, without fully knowng the truth, lest you be judged likewise.

    Peace!

    Most Aussies I've met I've found to be cool apart from one Redneck I met from Queensland who was always drunk and liked to refer to me as "Eh IIIIrish". He was a knob. Still, lots of people like him in every country.

    u can't assume that every aussie is rude just because of One person who just looked at you with "a mean and degrading look" and the only reason he did that is cause you were mean to him in the first place.

    Hey all -

    I met some aussies throughout my life, they were very nice and helful so why would some people complain :). Moreover, if one aussie occured to be somewhat annoying, we cannot generalize to the degree where all aussies are to be called annoying.

    I like them. Give politeness get politeness - that's the principle to go after.

    Rox.
