Attracted to people who look like you?

I've recently realized that a guy I've had a crush on for a while has very similar features to me. Same color eyes, same jawline, same mouth, even the same crooked eyebrow. We've got the same body, practically the same height....

I was just wondering if anyone else is the same way? Do you feel attracted to people with similar features?

 

well I'm very close to my dad,and I do look for his qualities in a man, as l look alot like him, you could be right

 

sometimes. maybe a bit more than sometimes...but it's not something i consciously look for in a guy. and it's more in overall look than little details like eye color, etc.
i do have a definite thing for guys who have a similar personality to my own.


interesting question though.

 

I like young guys and generally like them smaller than me, sort of a pederast pref I guess. But I've made it with all ages and builds - tho I prefer lean to fat.

This post made me recall one such episode from my long sexual experience that impressed me at the time. From my sexual memoirs:

The latest object of my affections is within an inch or two of my height. We both have brown hair and blue eyes. We wear similar glasses.

The problem is that it could just be a fluke. Although I usually do happen to be attracted to people with similar looks to me, it could be that's just what I'm attracted to and I happen to have a similar body type. Same thing for anyone else who has experienced the same thing.

I guess a way to test it would be to try to get fat or grow a beard and see if I start being attracted to guys with those characteristics.

 

Nope. I have been always attracted to younger, smaller guys than myself. Over the time, the age preference stayed very firm. The rest has changed ...

I agree that a huge number of people seek guys who are in their league. More often than not, you see people who look similar, partly because they share the same views on fashion, lifestyle, etc... A bit of cloning is there, for sure...

Here's me and Chuck. I met him at the nude beach, commented on his Scorpio tat (I have one as well). We got together one time and did Scorpio stuff.

He's about 3 years younger than me (told you I like younger guys)

But just occured to me that we look so similar.

 

I read a journal article about people tending to seek out similar looking people for long lasting relationships.

 

There's always some crossover, but it does seem like like twinks go with twinks, jocks go with jocks, bears go with bears. But it may be more of a case that, just like everyone, we mold our appearance (to the extent that we can mold our appearance) to be more attractive... and as guys who like guys, we have a tendancy to think attractiveness defined as what we find attractive.

So it's a chicken or the egg thing. It's not that we're attracted to those who look like us, but that our preferences come before our appearances.
